Half time: Arsenal utterly dreadful at Stoke
WE are 1-0 down and it is as miserable an afternoon as I can remember.
Kolo got bullied out of it for the goal, following a long throw from Rory Delap in possibly the most predictable incident ever.
The formation is an absolute shambles. I had thought we would see Denilson and Song sitting centrally, with Cesc a little ahead and Diaby behind the strikers. Narrow, but at least Cesc and Diaby would be involved.
Instead we have Diaby left midfield, where he rarely plays particularly well and for some god forsaken reason Denilson is right midfield, keeping out the likes of Theo and Nasri. I don’t want to pick on Denilson but the most animated I saw him all half was having a go at a Stoke player after a nothing foul on Clichy, who told his team-mate to leave it and go upfield.
And even then the centre of midfield is weak, with Song partnering Cesc.
It’s no surprise Cesc is playing poorly when, if we’re blunt, he is surrounded by players who simply ain’t anything like world class.
Up front Adebayor has moaned his way through the half.
I can understand adding someone tall in to deal with long throws. But the idea of abandoning wingers completely from a manager who for years steadfastly insisted on playing with two every time we went north looks like a massive overreaction to Wednesday night.
It’s Stoke for goodness sake. Not United.
And sat on the bench twiddling their thumbs we have three of our best players and players who despite their positional differences clearly possess more quality than what we have out there.
We have not so much had a chance, which is pathetic frankly. And only Sagna and Clichy are playing with any urgency.

I thought this might start becoming humorous soon. Instead it just straight sucks and I’m usually pretty optimistic.
Do serious questions need be asked of our manager? I feel the time has arrived, blasphemous as it may be. It’s not peachy keen at the Arsenal and I’d like to know why. What on earth is the team that Arsene has put out tonight? A little bit of some and a whole lot of nothing. For crying out loud, that’s not a football team. I can only hope they’ve scored whilst I’m typing this lest we turn our attention to finishing 4th with a cup run to match. I can’t remember when following Arsenal sucked so much. I think after the start to this seaon, it is painfully clear that we simply are not good enough. Wenger, and i am an acolyte of the man, but he made a huge error with his business in the summer.
It really is quite simple, we have to strengthen significantly in January or this side will finish outside the top four the way they are playing at the moment.
Simply not good enough, the start to the season and also the squad!

I’ve always been totally behind Wenger but am actually starting to doubt him now. That we had the money in the summer to sign players and didn’t is now proving to be a huge mistake. We finally got some aggression back last season in the shape of Flamini, and he was allowed to leave. Prior to this match all I read was about Delaps long throw and how it would be dangerous to Arsenal and what do we get? Two goals conceded as a result of Delap’s long throws……I really don’t know where Arsenal can go from here. To even suggest us as title contenders is laughable, we’ll be lucky to get fourth spot this season.

I normally dont post but im so angry not because we lost or because of the players but of Wenger who played two central midfielders on the wing nobody does that because it dosnt work never has and never will Wenger never used to do it he always used to play two wingers, denilson is a central attacking mid nothing else not a winger or a dm and adebayor did nothing and Wenger kept him on until he had to take him off through injury.So much for teams dont need a dm whoever came up with that was not thinking straight, and I may not even be thinking straight now and come the morning it may look stupid so dont hold it against me lol. From a squad that was short last season, we leaked Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto and Lehmann and only Hleb was replaced adequately. Man Utd won the double and strengthened with a new 30m striker. Chelsea bought a couple more world class players, Liverpool strengthened.
The weakness in central midfield was clear for all to see, and yet nothing was done about it. The weakness in central defence was there for all to see, and yet nothing was done about it. The captaincy of Gallas failed, and yet nothing was done about it. If you never address problems then they can never be solved.
As much as i love wenger, the man is so stubborn that he won’t see when he has made mistakes and so they can never be solved.
Give the captaincy to Cesc, spend some damn money in january and buy a proper DM, and get a vidic type for defence. Its about time we started acting like the big club we are.

Otherwise, the only difference between this year and the previous years is that the meltdown happened earlier this year. At the end of the season it will be fourth place in the league and quarter-final in the champions league.

I’m from India. Supporting Arsenal for the last 14 years. This is ridiculous, I don’t understand how a person (Mr Wenger) can so blatantly ignore the issues which all the fans could see before the start of the season - Defense, Need for a good DM to play alongside Cesc. He is become too stubborn and it’s affecting a great club like Arsenal. He cannot be bigger than the club. Tactically also he has gone nuts. I mean look at the lineup he had today no width. Why not play Djouru? Toure is not only poor in the air but now a days seems to panic. I don’t know, I’ve never been this frustrated. Some of you idiots need to calm down. I agree with you that Wenger has made mistakes with transfers and players this season but you need to show some respect for the man. He has been great for us, if it is time for him to go then we should all be thanking him for what he done for our club, not telling him to ‘fuck off and manage a French team’ I still think he has it in him to sort out our team if he addresses the problems we can all clearly see at Arsenal. Anyway some of you should be ashamed to call yourselves Arsenal fans, your an absolute disgrace.
