The biggest shambles of the Arsene Wenger reign

Stoke 2 Arsenal 1

I’VE got to dash out now and try and enjoy a birthday party, so I’ll make this fairly quick:

The formation was a joke. Not only did it not help defend the long throws, crucially it left us utterly bereft in attack.

Surely if we were that worried by the throw-ins we should have gone out all guns blazing to win the game early on? Instead we dropped RVP, Theo and Nasri.

How he could justify playing Denilson above Theo at right-midfield is beyond me. Diaby was his all too common ineffective self on the left and in Alex Song, Cesc hardly had a world class partner.

The first throw in goal was poor defending from Kolo, who was bundled off far too easily.

With our absurd formation we created nothing, not helped by the permanently sulking Adebayor who eventually decided he had had enough and subbed himself.

The subs should have come at half-time but instead we had to wait for Sagna to get injured before Theo appeared. Then it took too long for RVP to come on and there was no sign of Nasri either, who Wenger appears to have decided can not play outside London, despite never giving him a chance.

We continued to create nothing and a second arrived from more crap defending.

RVP was then sent off for barging into the goalkeeper. Based on stupidity it merited a red, even if by the rules of the game it seemed a yellow to me. Unbelievably unprofessional nonetheless and he should be fined heavily.

That he will miss the Man U game (and presumably others) adds to what I alluded to yesterday - our ability to utterly implode whenever something goes wrong.

In short, this was a stupid formation picked by a man still in awe of how well Flamini worked out last season and deluded that he can turn Song and Denilson into world beaters. The substitutions came too late, the players played poorly and some showed a terrible attitude too.

As I said yesterday, we have a terrible habit of imploding the moment something goes wrong. I can’t help thinking it was the boss panicking with such an absurd formation for what was, if we’re blunt, only Stoke away that got the ball rolling on today’s whole catastrophe.

And now Walcott is being stretchered off. Great.

The only players who can come away with any credit were Clichy and Sagna, who as ever gave everything. And the second I write that Clichy gets one back. He deserved his first goal to come in far more positive circumstances.

That c**t Styles has just booked Cesc for trying to get on with the game. Apologies for the swearing but had you seen the incident you’d understand where I’m coming from.

We don’t deserve to equalise frankly.

And we haven’t. Terrible defeat.

  1. I am sad to have to say this but I think we need a change at the top. Yes I have always been a big fan of AW but I think it is time he moves on with his pride intact and lets bring some one in who could make us a winning team again, both the management and the board are misleading the fans we will not finish in top 4 this season

  2. i know i might be a bit harsh but seriously its all Wenger’s fault. he built this team. they lacked the passion to win anything. even at 2-0 down their tempo was rather slow. very disappointed

  3. [...] the bullshit!!  we lost against Stoke? Full of Shame to me [...]

  4. the curse of the clichy’s mistake.

remember birmingham? it’s all downhill before we’re able to go up again.

  5. arsene i dont believe in his long reign as ever have lost the plot as he has this season. we should play our strongest team not worry about an average team like stoke although big and strong. cese is a shadow of the player this time last year and doesnt look up for it. we will struggle to get 4th with this squad

  6. First fulham, then hull, now stoke. Thats three defeats and its only November! But there is nothing we can do other than support the team, after all it could be worse (Sp*ds).

  7. Mike.from.around.da.way

ONCE GAIN. WENGER GOT THE FORMATION WRONG. WHY WOULD YOU PLAY DENILSON AHEAD OF WALCOTT IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF MIDFIELD, DIABY AHEAD OF NASRI, BENDTNER AHEAD OF VAN P. HW MITE ASWELL PLAYED HIMSELF.

  8. There is no escaping it. this is a poor Arsenal side. Watch as Manu, Chelsea and Liverpool knock teams aside. It is hard to believe that we could have hoped to compete with them only a few weeks ago. Delusions. They are strong, well set up teams, not a collection of talented boys with a sprinkling of players not really fir for purpose - now or when they ‘mature’

Wenger’s mission will continue. I love the man but I do not think we will win another title while he is manager. We are being swept aside as the strong get stronger and the wannabees improve.

Arsenal, my Arsenal. Where do we go from here?

  9. FUCK.

  10. Wenger has become very arrogant and singleminded. everyone in the world can see we are not strong enough and that we need a new flamini, and a quality centreback. but wenger simply refuses to see the plainly obvious! arsenal will not win anything this season and will be lucky to finish 4th. my main hope is that cesc will stay after this embarrasing season is over.

If wenger refuses to see the obvious and bring in some quality he has to go. as long as he remains in charge and continues with his obsurd level of ignorance towards the strength of our squad we will win nothing.

  11. I couldn’t get a live feed of this and thank god I didn’t. What a shambles of a week for us!!! Todays starting line up beggars belief in the wake of our midweek debacle. Wenger HAS to realise we need to strengthen in January. I feel sick!!!!!!

  12. All too reminiscent of the end of Brian Clough’s reign isn’t it? A manager changing his approach and his team without reason, instability throughout the club (where is that CEO we were promised?!?) and players that don’t look as though they want to play for the badge.

Changing the team was a must following Wednesday but to take off two of the better performers in RVP and Theo makes no sense. There is no point complaining about Denilson any more because we are stuck with him there and so it is we wait with anticipation to hear those immortal words, “we lacked composure” or alternatively “there will be a response”.

Still thanks to Utd beating Hull we haven’t dropped back any further and can look forward to our next League match. If anything at least our expectations are managed and we can concentrate on the threat of Villa as opposed to what happens with the other three.

That said, this team constantly pull out the least expected results so perhaps a win against Utd is on the cards!!

  13. i feel everything that your saying. wenger has to start taking the blame instead of making excuses regarding “immaturity” which is down to the squad that he has produced anyway.

  14. load of absolute bollocks. if we cant beat stoke, hull and fulham how can we expect to finish in the top 4 this season, let alone win the league. im a huge fan of what wenger has done for the club, but im afraid he is starting to drag it down in the opposite direction. im not saying we should sack him, but maybe we should consider moving him up to a board room position. he is so stubbborn and will not accept that this squad of players simply not good enough. we need to do something soon or we will not even be in champions league spots.

  15. I agree wid adam dat wenger shud be blamed n he needs to fix it. He didnt buy a central midfielder or a tall centre back. Lukin at the squad i new we werent gonna win. Denilson needs to cum off da first squad, becuz him n cesc are a crap partnership n dont help da CB so we concede, somthin lyk 4 goals at home. Diaby wuz my choice for dis season, but has ended up on da wing. Also Ade, VP, theo and sagna will not be at da fenrabace game n probably man u.

  16. He is a legend but I think he has to go. We will go in midtable with him this season and what a Joke to beat chelsea, liverpool or manu if we cant beat Stoke. Another Joke is Van Persie letting on bench and playing fucking skillless Bendnter who cant even beat his mother. We will loose Cesc for sure for next season. Bad bad days for us Gooners. All gooners must see reality Wenger has to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I’m gutted and sick but the reactions above are excessive. Three weeks ago I thought we were title contenders. I am very disappointed we missed out on signings in the summer but I think that will be put right. So you fire AW? Who next?? Everyone except some Arsenal fans would recognise that he is one of the top five managers in the world, not only on his record of trophies but also on his ability to build a youth team while the money was diverted to the stadium. Make no mistake, Liverpool and Spurs will never get their stadium whereas our’s will pump out cash from 2009 once Highbury is sold. I do believe that AW will sign in January and next summer.

  18. Is absolutely disappointing…everything just not working properly for Arsenal today. Lack of urgency, lack of form, lack of concentration, lack of accuracy, lack of speed…simply lack of everything….
    Wake up Arsenal!!!

  19. Kenny Johnson - The Voice of Reason

Welcome to the real world….You lot have been too far up you’re own arses for way to long. Another season down the swannie….You’re gonna win fuck all…Like you did last season, the season before that, and the season before that…Oh yeah I nearly forgot and the season before that too. Hopefully how you’ll go into freefall and crash and burn…Woolwich Wanderers…I shit em…. Since 5-1 pummelling, We fear you no more, step aside, you’re have you’re spell, because you’re days under Wenger are numbered…….COYS

  20. The hungers not there this season… Flamini made the whole team play quicker, the tempo has been lost from our game and the team cannot seen 2 pick up. . We didnt threaten once today .. totatly pissed off…. Adebayor has been non exsistant for the past two games,… I for one cannot wait 4 the return of eduardo, quality player whose movement off the ball can make adebayor look good….
Can we really beat UTD next week?

  21. wengers tactics were again all wrong and i dont mean to sound negative but we have to accept that we our out of the title race, and its only november and we havent even played a good team yet. we drop points far to easily, you couldnt imagine chelsea going to stoke and losing. we are not as good as them, not even close, we are slowly drifting out of the top 4 and something needs to be done.

  22. Bendtner is crap? He hasa goal ration better than 0.5 both in starts last season and in internationals and yet is only 20! Get real. Cesc may go … because as a Catalan he feels the pull of Barca and nowhere else. Why not? His friends are in the team there and his family are there. If he goes then we will get loads of money for him.

  23. 1997-98: seaman, dixon, adams, keown, winterburn, parlour, vieira, petit, overmars, bergkamp, wright/anelka
2001-02: seaman, lauren, sol, keown, cole, parlour/pires, vieira, edu, ljungberg, bergkamp, henry
2003-04: lehmann, lauren, sol, toure, cole, ljungberg, vieira, gilberto, pires, bergkamp, henry

The point here is that Wenger always had his starting XI and rarely deserted it. Sure, we had some utility players thrown in: kanu, wiltord, grimandi, bould, silvinho, etc but he always had and KNEW his starting XI. Furthermore, these were teams of MEN, big fucking tough men. Now he has a team of whining pussies, not a tough nut among them. Too many cry-baby africans and frenchies. We need some tougher players who want to work for their money and success, not think they deserve it just because they’re at Arsenal and will get paid no matter what.

It’s results like these that lead me to question how we can possibly have the 3rd highest wage bill in the country…Alex Song, Denilson and Diaby get paid more than any player at Fulham, Hull, Stoke and Sunderland yet are not fit to lace their boots, let alone those of their predecessors in the GREAT Arsenal sides.

What I’d give to have someone of the quality of a Vieira, Campbell, Henry or Bergkamp in our team. Fuck it, give me a Keown and Parlour and I bet you we would not have lost to Hull or Stoke.

Arsene, this is a fucking joke. You’re precious youngsters will take this team nowhere and will fuck off the minute they don’t fancy it anymore.

  24. nonsense comments. It’s easy to point the finger at Wenger, but the players are more to blame. As mentioned above the attitude of certain players is, frankly, dreadful. I thought Henry was a sulker but he’s nothing compared to Adebeyor. The bloke is an absolute tool. However, I bet he’s got a big cock, which is about the only thing going for him.

The only criticism I can lay on Wenger is he hasn’t laid into these slags before now. A few more home truths are in order…

  25. Norweigan gooner

Cesc received his fifth yellow card today. Will he be suspended against man utd next week then? The worst case scenario will be an Arsenal team without ade, rvp, Walcott and cesc against man utd. That could be an awful match to watch.

  26. i dunno,i just dunno, wenger cant build a team no more,he cant pick a quality defender from the whole world an bring him in,he thinks he can make denilson or cesc into a top defensive midfielder,i think its time for wenger to resign,he has taken arsenal as far as he can

  27. a week ago i was totally behind wenger, but i think even the players have turned

  28. lmfaoooooo lets all laugh at arsenal la la la la, your team is just like ur firm, SHIT !

  29. attitude or not,the manager picks the team

  30. I agree with Pip - I think players in the past have found out that if they don’t deliver they get shipped out. He will give the youth a chance this year but those who fail will be dispatched.

As for cry-baby africans and frnechies … I would like you to repeat those comments in a closed room to Messrs Vieira, Petit and Lauren! Stop using racist/nationalist sterotypes. The players today were shite, I agree. Hold them to ransom and not AW Unless he fails to act.

  31. firm?? pahahahahaha ,this is the internet not the back of some dingy yid hangout

  32. yid army,

what a twat talking about ‘firms’. get a life you useless yob.

and yes our team is crap, just like yours, but not quite as bad.

  33. oh dear Spurs re 1-0 down. Unlukee Yid Army, you massive choppa!

  34. The Irish Gunner

You guys make me both laugh and sick. Yes the team are under performing at the moment but just wait for when we drag ourselves up and beat the manu scum and everyone is saying “Oh Wenger you’re my Hero”. Why dont you all just behind the fucking team and support them properly, through thick and fucking thin!!!!!!!!!!!!

You really do make me sick!!

  35. after manu game Arsene will believe not in kids.Manu will crush arsenal a minimam of 5 goals to neal.big name is given after a big job.the coach needs to change his mind about big name it’s not given after nothing.Anyways the Arsenal mess is continiued at least the boss singned big names with big money.

  36. Pip - it has to be the manager’s fault. He is the one picking the players and looking to motivate them , he is the one sending out that ridiculous formation and he is the one that has decided not to bring in better replacements. I don’t want him to go, I just want him to learn from his own mistakes but as this season progresses he seems to get over one mistake by making another.

This game was a case in point, as after Spurs he said we were too negative in our passing which in itself was interesting seeing as he was the one who had substituted our best players for negative players, and then in this game he puts 5 in midfield when Stoke bypass their midfield with long balls. If there is anyone out there that can explain this approach then please do.

  37. I agree with the Irish Gunner, but most of these fickle opiniins are stoked by the media and their big old wooden spoon

  38. Over the top reactions, as always.

Yes you can talk about formations, but that team out there should still have been able to defeat stoke.

What disappoints me is that Djourou still hasn’t had his chance at CB…

And for those calling for Wenger’s head, who is out there that could do better? And who exactly should he have signed in midfield in the summer? We tried to get Alonso but he was unavailable (and I’m not sure he was the Flamini-type player we needed anyway - Mascherano does that job at LiIverpool)

OK, the league’s gone. But Arsenal look very much to me like a cup team, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see FA Cup or CL success this season. I’m also predicting a victory against Man U next week for the same reason…

  39. MY RIGHT FOOT FOR A DEFENSIVE COACH!?!?!?

  40. Rich, I take on what you’re saying, but he does see them every day in training so there must be something strong for him to genuinely believe in. It makes me laugh how everybody believes they should be a manager talking tactics and formations. You’ll aways get it though, it’s part and parcel.

Who know why it sometimes falls apart on the day. If I knew the formula, I’d bottle it and get into management myself…

  41. not a bad point from Alex. The more you look at it, this season Arsenal look a bit like the Liverpool of the past few years. Cracking run in the Champions League, but always a bit disappointing in the League, oh yeah, without the sexy footbal of course…

  42. Irish Gunner - I actually think we will beat Utd and thats the sad thing. We are not even giving ourselves a chance by playing this way. And for those thinking that we may pick up a cup you only have to look at our surrenders last year to understand what Arsene thinks of them.

We have seen nothing to make us think that a trophy is possible by anything other than the kids in the Carling Cup but I’ll still go to the games and sing my heart out. But when did that become enough? When did we become a club settling to be also-rans.

Arsenal is a club associated with belief and pride for how we go about things, but I’m sorry to say that the capitulations we are seeing are becoming more and more frequent and that is not what this club used to stand for.

  43. While M.U & Chelski swept aside their opponent easily, as a “title contender”, we can’t even secure any point from Stoke’s match?? Can’t really NOT pointing finger to AW - if he did strengthen the team in the summer, if he did bla bla bla… the players might been a factor for current Arsenal’s problem but I wouldn’t blame them as much as I blame AW. Instead of bringing in experience to further improve the current team, AW choose to “forcefully play” young players by giving them role & responsibilities they not “even up to it”. Here we go…another season goes empty handed…. Yeah, Arsene Knows!!! Anyway, there’s still a long way to go before the season ended - we might be lucky to take home league trophy eh??? Ha…. Keep on dreaming….

  44. pipwilliams to presume that because wenger has been a great manager for us that he always makes the right decisions and all who disagree with him are all deluded is so unbelievably arrogant.

it doesn’t take a genius to realise that denilson will not make an effective winger in the forseeable future, it’s plain to see and he’s played there before-surely enough without amazing anyone.

blindly following the leader is so stupid and naive it’s untrue. support wenger if you think he’s the best man for the job, i do too and don’t want another manager, but being so uncritical makes you seriously stupid

  45. We cannot defend to save our f**king lives. Wenger needs to drop the whole team coz they just played shit. They don’t want to win the league, they’re just there to pick up their money at the end of the day. The only players he shouldn’t drop are Nasri, Clichy and Van Persie till he got sent off. The team just don’t have the passion to wear the shirt. I would get players on that do show that they care eg Wilshire, Ramsey and Vela. Fabregas and Adebayor think that they r too big for their boots. Wenger needs to take a good look at himself and say I need a big tall strong defender.

  46. wenger needs 2 stop buying players dat are still experienced player in gallas needs to go hes crap and dont knw how 2 b a captain we need 2 new defenders or even 1 and at least 1 midfielder thats good enuff 2 partner cesc because this is takin tha piss now

  47. Alex - we have to enter the trasfer market like aduts not looking for cheap deals. We are Arsenal for goodness sake.

  48. I understand giving young kids a chance if they’re exceptional but I don’t think anyone in the world would call song and denilson “exceptional”. For fuck’s sake, if you want a utility player then at least get some bloke who knows what the fuck he’s doing: grimandi, parlour, edu and wiltord all played in a variety of positions for the club and were all lightyears ahead of song or denilson. And don’t give me any shit about grimandi, that guy was always 100% committed when he played, no matter what position. Seeing Alex Song wear the Arsenal shirt hurts so bad because I know that kid is taking the fucking piss. I know he makes thousands of pounds a week for being a pile of donkey shit.

The manager takes the blame because 1) he picks the players 2) he picks the formation 3) he’s the one supposed to motivate the players, if not leave them on the bench. Of course the players don’t help by having a bad attitude but that’s the coach’s responsibility.

Hearing the directors fawning over wenger makes me cringe and shows that he runs the club from top to bottom. I supported arsenal long before wenger arrived and will continue to do so long after he’s gone. And I think I’ve seen enough players in my time watching football to tell a shit player from a good one…

  49. Pearse - we have to go defensive in the midfield. Denilison and Fabs are getting overrun putting pressure on back 4 constantly. Teams don’t fear us anymore.

  50. I’ve just come back from watching the game in an (unnamed) pub and they way the boys played was beyond a joke, As soon as I saw the starting line up I just thought to myself ‘WTF!!” considering this game we had to come out and tear strips off Stoke it wasn’t going to happen. What I find unbelievable is that Wenger chose to leave RvP, TW14 and Nasri on the bench. I really don’t understand the line-up - only one person can justify it and would love to see why Wenger chose a midfield of Song, Cesc, Denilson and Diaby?! Diaby is no left winger - we all know that - Song is no right winger either - what the fuck is Wenger doing? We had no width - no attacking presence especially on the wings - I can’t understand where Wenger is coming from with this set up. Arguably three of our most fearsome attacking players were bench (RvP, TW14 and Nasri) I bet Stoke and Tony Pulis were fucking laughing!

Wenger needs to asses things and right away - he can’t keep blaming a team that he put together - I agree with you Adam - you said Wenger can’t blame ‘immaturity’ on a team he has assembled - he didn’t inherit it - he made it. Its the same after the spurs fuck up - he took off the three attacking players mentioned above and then blames the team for not going forward - well you changed the dynamic of the team Wenger - the fault of the blame lies at your feet.

I’m not saying we should sack Wenger - but the natives are restless - he needs to not be so fucking stubborn - this present team WILL NOT WIN THE LEAGUE! At this rate we wouldn’t win the fucking Championship - case in point is that we’ve lost against two Championship teams already! I think Toby you’re blinkered by not thinking its the managers fault - he had the money and time to buy some experience in the summer - he chose not too - what makes you think he is suddenly going to change rhetoric? As for the Liverpool, Spurs not having cash when Highbury is finally sold? So fucking what?? Wenger has money NOW that he isn’t spending. But thats my argument - we dont have to agree just because we support the same team.

Fuck it - I could write a shit load more but I’m so fucking fucked off. Try and enjoy the rest of the weekend Gooners - just checked Setanta and spurs are losing 1-0 against the hub cap nicking, tracksuit wearing, giro getting scouser’s… and dont think for one minute Liverpool will be letting in 2 goals with with just injury time to go!!

  51. yid army, hope you and your ‘firm’ are enjoying the liverpool game. maybe when its finished you can go home and watch the last 5 minutes of that dvd your magnificent club has just released.

  52. crikey Ryan, you’re blowing my comments a bit out of proportion. You’re missing the (my) point, it’s not a case of follow the leader. And, for the record, Wenger, is probably still the best man for the job

  53. Still a few blind optimists out there eh? More poor performances and no new signings in January and you’ll be finished off.

  54. I thought fulham was that one match of the season, and i thought hull city was bad,i couldn say anythin after the tottenham match.
Now stoke….now im just waiting to wait and hear what the players and wenger have to say…
another mediocre season…i don understand how u can play 4 central midfield palyers together … its not always goin to work ….no fuckin width at all

  55. I agree with Alex above, in Europe we’re looking very good and this team does have a habit of getting up for big games. It’s really hard to contrast the wonderful start to last season with the poor start to this one. I know it’s the natural tendency of football fans and the English to be pessimistic but it truly is a long season and there’s no need to be so defeatist after about a quarter of it. It was a bit astonishing to see some people write off our league chances after Wednesday. No club whose fans have that mentality will go on to have success on the pitch as optimism in the stands often reflects on the pitch.

That said, it’s like we’ve switched roles with Liverpool, who are having a great start, whereas at the moment we don’t know our best team and are rotating and it’s causing problems.

You can understand Wenger’s dilemma. There’s excellent raw talent at his disposal and the players he has now do have it within them to win things, having made a good fist of it last season. That said, he shouldn’t be trying to give everyone a go and a chance to prove themself. You would hope he would have tried to sort out his best starting lineup in pre-season but his Benitez-esque tinkering isn’t working. Not in the league at least. If we have a decent cup run or two culminating in a trophy later in the season then you could say it has worked but trophies are very difficult to win so it’s a massive if.

It’s just surprising to me because Wenger more than any manager is the type to consolidate and learn from the past, as he did last season, but his conviction and belief in some of his more unproven players, though not unjustified, was a gamble that doesn’t appear to be paying off at the minute.

  56. As Rich says this is reminiscent of Cloughie’s last stand. It isn’t entirely unlike Terry Neill’s demise either. Messrs Fiszman and Co. would do well to learn the lessons of history. Sadly Wenger’s close involvement in the huge Emirates project changed his rationale and perspective forever. Time to make Arsène an honorary non-exec’ director for life and break the bank for Mourinho. I don’t want Arsenal becoming replicas of Nottm Forest. As for pretty football, let others prevail. Arsenal is about Victoria Concordia Crescit.

  57. ohhh the fun we had the other night smashing ur firm all over north london, we smashed ur firm and ur pubs up yet again !

  58. we had 2 seasons like this before last and it pains me to say, but i think it we had not stumbled across the virtues of flamini in pre season last year, it would have been just as bad. this song, denilson, diaby situation is a joke. none of them are 1st team. we needed to sign 1 big, strong proven defensive central mid. i don’t buy the we tried and failed argument. if we tried hard enough we could have got one. i have always been a massive wenger fan, but i can’t see him lasting much longer if these problems are not addressed. it is sad to see arsenal and wenger drifting away from their previous best.

  59. yid army, i don’t really think anyone cares if you went in a pub and broke a few windows. probably made it look more like your childhood home…we are more concerned about the football, which even though its not going too well this year, is still going substantially better for us than you.

  60. well done yid army, bet your folks are really proud…

  61. ITS GOT SO BAD EVEN PHIL THOMPSON ON SKY CAN SEE ITS NOT WORKING>
he actually named Bednter,Diaby,Song,Denilson as not good now nor in the future to wear an arsenal shirt.
It that useless manager can see it why can’t Wenger?
I sit in the west upper and everyone there can see it as well.
Potential is one thing but you can’t polish a sh*t.

  62. Be fair Jeffers. They have had two Worthless Cups and one 4-4 draw in the last 17 years. It’s not all mindless knuckledragging.

  63. we are proud u mugs !, like we are every season having u on the run u pussys

  64. proud of what you plum?! supporting a team of pub players floudering in mid table obscurity? You cunt. get off the forum, have a cold shower and get a bagel down your neck cos you’re talking like one of those drunk wallies you try so hard to avoid at last orders

  65. Haha… I must admit i find it very entertaining when people post the same comment on several board…WHY??

  66. the reference to mid table obscurity is obviously not valid this season. Liverpool have just hit the post, god, it’s been bad watching Arsenal hit a bad run, but please kill me if I ever switched over to the other side of north London. Rubbish…

  67. this has been a bad year, but the god of the fixture list has always provided a spurs game to cheer me up a bit. that keane looks a good player…

  68. keane is class!

  69. ‘The Irish Gunner’ - for starters, the ‘the’ is a bit presumptous don’t you think ? There’s plenty more out there.
There’s one thing worse than the constant ‘Wenger Out’ brigade & it’s the ‘Arsene Knows Best’.
Yes, we may beat Man utd & peopl will be happier ? So what ? Even if we do beat them we haven’t a prayer of winning the league with this squad. How does aceepting that not make people real supporters ? It doesn’t mean we won’t cheer the team on in every game & feel horribly sick when we don’t win. It just means that we have faced up the fact that Wenger - for all his greatness - ha, through his pure stubbornness - in refusing to replace Flamini - ruled us out of the title race. That’s the reality. And while we’re at it it’s also fact to state that we’ve had one season in four where our title challenge has lasted beyond October - do you think that’s good enough ??

  70. spurs just got a corner. stick that on the dvd extras

  71. Arsenal are suffering from a crisis in confidence after Wednesday. Which was a real hammer blow.
I don’t know about you but it hurt just as bad as losing a major final
All these wankers that are calling for Wengers head can fuck right off.
Comparing Wengers reign now to that that of the lasts days of Neil or Clough. What a joke. Unlike Neil & Clough’s last days we are not 4th from bottom & just got knocked out of the League cup by a third division club as in Neils case and Arsene ain’t gonna get us relegated.
AW believes in total football where any player can play anywhere. Unfourtunately it does not work in practice.
Flamini & Helb were never gonna stay no matter how much Arsenal offered them.
Ya Ya did not want to join Arsenal in the summer, neither did Inler. Would Barry have made any difference? would Alonso have made any difference? I’m not so sure. What I do know is that result on Wednesday has dented Arsenals confidence.
I’d experiment on Wednesday. Play Vela & NB up front. Stick Gallas in the middle with Cesc. Play JD at the back with Kolo, drop Almunia and play in the absence of Theo give Jack Wiltshire a game. I’d also start introducing Ramsey more with the first team.
Hopefully Arsenal can stay in touch with the top 4 until January. Then re-bid for Inler & Ya Ya . We should have Rosicky & Eduardo back and at least have be in with a shout of 2 or maybe 3 trophies.
To all the sack Wenger merchants. Go and support Chelsea you plastic cunts.
Arsene knows most of the time but not all of the time. In my book that makes him human.

  72. It is all about balance
It is all about balance really. In any successful team you need constructive players and when you don’t have the ball destructive players to stop the opposition from playing. In other words players that will work hard when you don’t have the ball. Players that will hound the opposition and close them down. Players that can defend corners and score from corners at the other end. When we go out to buy players it always seems to be the same type we are looking for. Skilful, two footed players that look pretty on the ball and can easily be deployed on the flanks. But when are our scouts ever told to seek out imposing players, players that you can play at centre half, or as holding midfielders, hard players that are good leaders and when you are behind will by hard graft take you back into a game. Players that shut a game out when you are ahead. The Patrick Vieiras, Emmanuel Petit, Tony Adams….. It’s just not in the Arsenal blue print when we go looking for players. This is why we have ended up being a light weight, pretty team that is going nowhere because there is no backbone, no substance and no heart in this team. We are a team without a spine in every sense of the word. We have become a very unbalanced team and the saddest thing is that it is becoming a habit season after season. Arsene told us this summer again that we didn’t need any new players as the panel was strong enough. If he is this delusional then we are going nowhere quickly and we better get used to it. So it is plain to the dog in the street what this team is lacking for at least three seasons now. So now what??

  73. just seen Bale warming up. Maybe the missing link can get them a point? Hmmm

  74. hello to all upset gunners.

Well my friends the team needs changing and the man to do it is the manager. My question is who in the club is big enough to tell Wenger that he has 3 games to put it right or he’s history?
Answer: Nobody. Because the board like their money in their pocket and Wenger makes them money. And one more thing, the other big three have a strong spine in Van der sar, Ferdinand, Scholes, Peter Cech, Terry, Lampard, Pepe Reina, Garragher, Gerrard.
We have the discounted team of a clown with yellow hair (Almunia), a french cry baby (Gallas) and a Spanish 20 year old that thinks he is a superstar. What the other three pay for their spine and what did we pay ? Nothing We got them all at the local discount store Walmart.

    Enough said
Are we hoping to beat Man UTD with this team? Jogging right. The way I see it 1-3 for Man Utd.

till next season, keep the beers cold boys.

  75. well, they got one back. Not all bad though, Carragher own goal… couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke.

  76. spurs are like my missus..she doesn’t go down much but when she does i love it!

  77. yid army,
i dont think you realise what a complete cunt you look like - do you think anyone on here gives two fucks coz you smashed up a pub? i dont, and im pretty sure no one else does so get back to your new dvd you prick.

  78. to be honest, I smashed up a pub toilet myself on Wednesday night after that result. I didn’t need a firm either, it was all my own work…

  79. when the ladies of the tottenham high road told him he needed to get it firm i think he misunderstood

  80. That’s being very kind jeffers, do they call them ‘ladies’, I thought they were ‘old trumpets’ or ‘rippers’?

  81. its a bit like prison there..they take the closest thing to a lady they can get

  82. ladyboy? Probably more apt

  83. the commentator on Setanata has just said the scum performed ‘heroics’ on weds night. Funny, I thought it was down to defensive balls ups which gifted it to them… that and a hit and hope from our obligatory reject

  84. oh no, they won. i’m going to smash up my kitchen.

  85. This may sound harsh but wenger has had this coming.

The worst desision of his career, and that was selling viera and not replacing him thus we have not won a trophy since.

I could go on typing all night, about his mistakes but i’ll just go to the latest one,

Arsene Wenger the twat sold Gilberto, Diarra, Flammini, who where the only players i could say are decent enough to partner Cesc Fabregas, but not to buy a replacement when £30 million is handed into your hands is just absolutely Disgraceful.

If we dont get a resullt next week i have my leaflets to hand out to all thou suppourters of tipping wenger of his hot seat.

Lets all boo arsene in out nest game.

    Booooooooo Boooooooooooooooooooo

‘Wenger is a twaat, Wenger is a twa-aaat’

‘We want wenger out, We want wenger ou-ut’

I have had stick from many people for saying this before but I just want the whole world to see this next time.

  86. oi whats the score u mugs, we got our tottenham back hahahahah love ittttttttttttttttttt

  87. jeffers, save yourself the aggravation of cleaning up. Go down your local dive pub, and go nuclear on the toliet there. you’ll thank me tmrw morning

  88. jst want to let u sad upset gooners no that im jumping for fu**king JOY and laughing at the arse !!!!!! ahhhh did u see the yids bouncing again like we was at arsenal hmmmmm i think sooo

  89. THE HARSH REALITIES…

I don’t beleive for a second that Arsenal stand a chance to win anything this season.

AW has failed us again and again. His failure to recruit players of top quality where we need them most, is a consistent mistake that he has made time and time again.

Lets be honest… his abilities to source good players is comendable. But are these the players we need? What we desperately needed this season was a top, world-class, tough centre back and a holding midfielder that can tackle, run and do the leg work in the middle of the park with Cesc.

What did we get… Silvestre and… Oh yea… Silvestre and no-one.

Silvestre was not the answer to our problems. If he is not good enough to play for Man Utd at left back… why should he be good enough to play for The Arsenal at Centre back… I fail to see the connection.

AW has failed to replace so many of our stars… and that is now apparent more than ever before.

ITS TIME FOR CHANGE. If he wont lsiten, then the fans need to do what TOTTENHAM FANS DID…. BOYCOTT AND BULLY by any means necessary to get what we want.

We through away MILLIONS OF £’S every year to see our team get squashed by FULHAM, HULL and STOKE.

The voice of the fans doesnt seem to matter to the fat-cats on the board. They only give a f about their share value when they go to sell in a couple of years. They dont give a f about the real Arsenal… LIKE YOU AND ME.

In Arsene… we used to trust! Now I AM ASHAMED TO SUPPORT A FEEDER CLUB WHERE PLAYERS AND WINNING IS NO LONGER THE OBJECTIVE.

ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY…. The board have said to AW that you can have cash to spend. AW wont spend… and in return he only needs to get a top 4 spot and the fat-cats on the board are happy. If he asks for cash, he needs to produce results… AND HE HIMSELF, IS NOT CONIFDENT ENOUGH IN HIS ABILITIES TO GUARANTEE THE RESULTS AND SO HE BUYS CHEAP INEXPERIENCED FORIEGN PLAYERS TO EMULATE HIS STARS!

AW YOU ARE NOT HOUDINI. YOU CANNOT TURN SH1T INTO GOLD.

TIME TO LEAVE… WITH YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH.

  90. the ship is trouble only cus the ship your on is sinking…

    united united united

  91. AHHHH YIDS ARE BACK

  92. LETS ALL LAUGH AT ARSENAL LETS ALL LAUGH AT ARSENAL LA LA LA LA

  93. congratulations yid army, give yourself a pat on the back and look forward to another season of mid table mediocrity.

  94. ahahahah laugh at arsenal, coz ur gona finish top 4 this season arent u, hahahaha

  95. Thoroughly Pist

spud scum and salford inbreds, **** off and die in debt.

  96. tell us what its like when yer team wins nothing at all

    champions of england
    champions of europe

  97. Well the result of Man U and Hull has shown that we are not the only ones who have defensive problems. Also, Liverpool’s lost to the Spuds has shown that the Scums are climbing out of their hole. Yes, losing to Stoke sucks and we have a shitload of problems to address. But all these results show that the league is tougher this year. I am behind the club all the way. Go Wenger and Arsenal !

  98. tel, they dont no the feeling of winning anything wasting ur time with these wankers

  99. yid army. 4th is better than 14th my friend. Cherish your moment, it won’t last long, trust me.

Why is it spurs always revel in a a bit of a Arsenal misfortune? Could it be jealously? Surely not…

  100. Tottenham are better than us now. Scary!

  101. It’s a time for Arsene to make a reunion with Comoli, the unwanted scout at Spurs.

Nope, I’m not suggesting Comoli coming back to Arsenal. It’s time Arsene get the boot, so he can bring Comoli to Roma, another Spurs in Italy. At Roma, Arsene can make a reunion with Baptista as well.

I laugh at the suggestion that this team is capable of winning trophies and as good as the invincible, if not better. Arsene must be thinking the Arsenal fans are idiots, so he made a fun out of us.

And whenever Arsenal come back from behind, you guys got excited for nothing. Saying it’s only a hiccup. This team floppeed too much, too many times.

When I suggest Arsene to be sacked not long ago, I was attacked by you guys like a crazy dogs. Now is the time to eat your own dog food!

I can’t remember since when being an Arsenal fan is so frustrating… please kiss goodbye to the trophies, let’s live our life on memories forever, the glories of yesteryear.

It’ll be lucky if we can finish in the top four of the table this season. Next season coming, we would be easily overtaken by teams such as Aston Villa and Man City.

  102. Arsene has over the last 10 years - won the league 3 times, Won the FA cup 4 times, managed a team unbeaten in the league, reached the champions league final, improved the training facilities, moved the club to a fantastic stadium and continued to challenge for trophies without the finances to match the other. Cesc Fabregas is the best player I have seen in an Arsenal Shirt, yep better than Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Liam Brady or anyone else. Theo Walcott is a fantastic player. Ramsay, Vela, Wilshire are 3 of the best young players around. So because we lose 3 games against teams that enjoy kicking us up in the air, it does not mean the season is a failure. The team are still in the Champions league and could still win the league this season. When the team is down it needs support and appreciation from its fans.

  103. “Answer: Nobody. Because the board like their money in their pocket and Wenger makes them money”

Actually, Arsenal has never payed out dividends.

  104. Steve,no-one with any sense disagrees with you about how great Wenger’s been. But you’re deluding yourself if you think we could win the league. We can’t; and it is Wenger’s fault because anyone who knows anything about football knew we had to replace Flamini. The season as a whole is not a failure but as far as the league goes I’m afraid it is. We could well do very well in Europe but like in 06 it would only gloss over our other failings. The league should be what defines our season & by letting Paddy go & not replacing him for 2 seasons & now letting Flamini go we have had 1 season in 4 where we still had a title chance after October. October ??? That is mental & regardless of what else Wenger has done that is just not good enough & he has to take responsibility to put it right asap.
Being perfectly honest; we just hung onto 4th for the 2 seasons post-Vieira. And Villa now are to me a better side than the Totts were then. There is a serious chance we could be pushed out of the CL places this season. And that scares the life out of me.

  105. “I can’t remember since when being an Arsenal fan is so frustrating… please kiss goodbye to the trophies, let’s live our life on memories forever, the glories of yesteryear.”

Yes, before Wenger we had almost a flawless record. Never lost a game.

If you’re going to criticize Wenger, don’t do it out of your ass.

  106. Kayo Burgess - how can you be ashamed ??

through thick and thin, through good times and bad times you support your team - end of !!!

yes, it was a shocking result, a shocking performance and im as upset, hurt and pissed off as most but thats just pathetic - plz go support chelsea as fans like you are not needed

  107. In the short term, move Clichy into Midfield (energy, drive , speed, knows how to tackle) alongside Cesc.
Djourou in central defence. Sylverstre out to left back.
Jan, buy a winner, a fighting captain kind of player.

Longer term. Sell Cesc. Moving from a midfield of tacklng ball winners with good passing skills (vieira, gilberto, edu, parlour, petit) to a midfield with a playmaker (Cesc) hasn’t worked. All other big ,successful teams have 2 strong midfield defenders/tacklers.

  108. We really do have a poor squad.

  109. Yid army I hope you die of cancer you cunt
Ramoscurse. Fuck me. If thats your attitude. You’d have topped yourself after we lost to West Ham, Velncia & lost 5.0 to boro in the same week. Which meant that we ended up potless.
Get a life for fucks sake

  110. We just need a good hard, tall center back. Strikers think they can just push toure and gallas over. I think Cesc is gonna go. We need to get rid of a few and rebuild. A striker that can score 30 goals a season with Van Persie playing just behind as a second striker. You may think, hold on, Adebayor got 30 goals last year. But let me tell you. I watch adebayor every week and he scores about 1 goal every 5 chances not to mention he has the worst first touch in the league and is the most off-side player in the league. We need a big money signing. keep walcott and nasri.

This is it we have to spend big coz we have to go all out for trophies.

Adrian - Denilson and Fabregas get overrun coz they do not get stuck in. The invincibles were so good because they were big and strong. No one would think about a punch up with Viera. Thats what we lack. we had it last year in Flamini but Denilson and Fabregas are the same player.

  111. The Irish Gunner

On our defensive problems, we have never really got over the lose of Bobby Wilson as our goalie coach or Safe Hands as our goalie, Wenger would do well in getting Safe Hands back as the goalie coach. On defensive coachs, if it was a possibility for an old manager to come back in this job I would go for Georgie Graham, now theres a man who knows a thing about defence!! What do you all think.
I do believe wenger should have put his hands deeper into his pockets in the summer, we need a big, loud goalie, like Carson or Foster and a big Badge kissing Tony Adams in the heart of defence, unfortunately I cant think of one of them who would be available………..
It would also be nice if wenger went for Owen, he may not be as quick as he once was but I am sure he would hit the back of the net abit more than Adebayor, dont get me wrong Addie is a rare talent just frustraing to watch.

  112. It’s over for Wenger!

Just look at the DVD’s circa 2002-2004!
We are a shadow of the team of that generation. A team of several world beaters: DB10, Henry, Vieira, Pires, Freddie! Who are the world class players in the current team? Cesc? Mabe RVP on a good day? Arsene Wenger will go down as a true Arsenal ledgend, but unfortunately he now has to much power at the club and is answerable only to himself. This is not a healthy position for any football club. Even Alex Ferguson has to answer to the americans. I love you as a man of integrity and honour but I’m sorry Mr Wenger it’s time to go!

  113. The only reason wenger dropped theo, was to rest im for man united and make sure he dusnt get kicked…but unfortunately he was injured.

  114. I think we should identify a great replacement for Wenger first and Guus Hiddink would be good but given his links with Abramovich, I doubt he will be allowed to come. How about Wim Janssen or maybe Martin O’Neil? I wouldn’t complain about George Graham although I doubt the current board will allow that. How about Gerard Houlier? Wenger lost the plot 4 seasons ago and perhaps instead of trying to find a Director of Football, Wenger should move himself up to that position and let us find a more flexible, less stubborn and stingy manager. I can understand signing a top striker would be expensive but even the best defenders and defensive midfielders won’t cost so much that Arsenal can’t afford them. I’m beginning to think that it’s not stubbornness or blind faith in his too young players anymore but it’s already bordering on incompetence. Even Martin Jol would be a better manager right now. We cannot rest on our laurels; thanks Wenger for the past but we have to move forward and you are just killing us. Please go!

  115. GUYS! Calm down before you start hitting out at Wenger. We really need to consider the players fatigue before the match. Indeed the formation Wenger started out with really didn’t work but the players need to take a blame too as well. Obviously something must have had happened in the dressing after the game in mid-week. The performance today was really poor, but we have to give credit to Stoke as well. I believe they went in hard on our players and i feel that the referee clearly did not had a good game at all. Look at the challenges on to Sagna, Walcott and Ade. Then there’s the red card for Van persie. It was too harsh, but what to do? The referee is the one who said ’sorry’. But Liverpool did lost a game and that’s something which is positive. We’re still 6 points away. The upcoming match against ManU i believe we can surely get something out of that game. We have the home advantage and also we came close to beating them last season. Hopefully Arsenal will appeal for Van persie’s red card and also the injuries sustained wouldn’t be that serious. Still i urge all fans to give your support to the club, the manager, and players. In Wenger i trust.

  116. Bring in Steve Mclaren, he’s a chipmunk but he still has a brain, Wenger’s lost his.

  117. Wenger still thinks we can win the title. Lock him up before he kills his own family.

  118. All of us AFC fans are idiots for falling over ourselves to watch these over-rated, over-paid kids.

  119. We’re such a mess, we’ll probably go the CL semi-final but end up mid-table in epl.

  120. I feel that the line up is lacking this season. The writing was on the wll three seasons ago but then we had Henri to paper over the cracks and give the club a false sense of comfort. Last season was a blip. The other teams had learned how to cope with our play. Unless yopu get a manager with brains like Keegan who tthinks he can attack Arsenbal, the iother lesser teams are going to play a four man defensive midfeild line. Our players can pass all day but they ain’t gonna get near enough ot space to shoot. This problem is compounded by forwards who have the same style of play and join in the line to pass the ball around. So easy to pick them off. Even when with our wing play, our wingers often do not have anyone to cross to as our forwards are too far back.
We need some tinkling of the system. Denilson is too square to Fab. Hence when the ball is lost, the opposition have an open space to run into. Fab is more mature, if his partner attacks he is usually a few paces behind, but not Denilson.
CB I feel is time to buy Upson. He will come in like Keown.
Diaby should replace Denilson, he has a bigger presence. Maybe more disipline in not going forward too much.
Otherwise we should play our most successful system this season so far, 4-5-1.

  121. Arsene u say u know when to let the stars go ie henry , well have a good look at your self.
Ithink u have stayed three years to long ,thanks for what u have done but time for a fresh head and some new ideas.
this crop of players are the shittiest I have ever seen in the 30 years that I have supported ASrsenal.

  122. As soon as I saw the lineup I knew this game was gonna be crap. Ade and Bendter up front and no one to give them the ball. No Walcott or Nasri out wide, just a team packed with our biggest and less skillful players. Why the big players, after all didn’t Wenger say in the week that Stoke only score from long throw ins once every 2 or 3 months. For the first time I find myself questioning Wengers wisdom. We are not Bolton we fight other teams with skill, playing the Arsenal way. You can see things are not right with the team with Van Persies sending off.
    Questions I have are?
What’s wrong with playing Djourou. Especially with our current trio of mediocre central defenders.

Kolo, don’t come forward, you can’t shoot, you can’t pass, any free kick you take is a waste. Why don’t you just try to remember how to be a defender.

Arsene with your tactical shortcomings you are driving Cesc out the door. I can see him looking at Song, Toure, Silvestre and Gallas and just thinking Barcelona please come and get me.

I have no problem with the youth policy in fact why not just play the Carling cup kids. They would have beaten Stoke and given us a more exciting game.

  123. [...] performance against Spurs midweek just compounded the grief of the Arsenal faithful. Goodplaya described the events of the last few weeks as ‘the biggest shambles of the Arsene Wenger reign’ [...]

  124. Fuck you guys, seriously. This is not the worst team ever and AW has not lost the plot. This is a great Arsenal team and Wenger is still the best thing ever happened to us. A defeat to Stoke doesn´t change that. Bendtner, Diaby and Denilson played bcause we had to rotate, Theo has played every game recently, Nasri was looking tired and with RvP Arsene is really careful this time, rightly so. And with manu and a heavy shedule coming up we had to rotate! And still Theo and Ade got injured.. But, stop getting over the top with your criticism every time we have a bad game and support the lads and Arsene. When we are playing well you all are full of praise anyway…

  125. we need young blood like frank raikard who was won the champions league and has the experience.

  126. alston (singapore)

Tuke. I totally agree with you. Those who are calling for Wenger’s head to roll are really dumb. Imagine if he leave, guess who will leave? Cesc will probably the first one. As i said many times before, we had played many games this season. There was the dumb international break, then the champions league in mid-week and S*** at mid-week too. Fatigue will surely affect the players. There is the every need to rotate and i strongly believe there is a need to get 1 or more quality and experience player in the january transfer period. So come on and not whine because you PEOPLE cant change the result. We need to get behind Wenger and the team.

  127. Alston, get a grip.do u really think this is to do with one result ? Were we tired against Sunderland,Fulham & Hull too ? Well, that’s ok then is it ?? We should get the FA to change the fixtures to suit us then.
I just don’t get how you can sit there & say have faith, it will all work out. It won’t. Andthat has been obvious since the end of the transfer window.
The Arsene Always Knows Best brigade seem to think that ‘getting behind the team’ means burying your head in the sand & saying it’ll all be ok.
Liverpool not winning has no relevance for us; the title is none of our business at this stage.

  128. Our fans are so smarty smart, well I’ll tell you something you don’t know - WE ARE CRAP!

  129. The thing that really grips is that this was’nt even that much of a surprise. Looking at Wenger in the 2nd half with his head in his hands suddenly realising something that we all new in August- WE ARN’T FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH. We’ve paid a very heavy price for Wenger’s stubborness and its a fucking disgrace how far we’ve fallen behind Chavski and Man Ure

  130. I too think enough is enough; it is time to review the leadership of the club. I have ALWAYS supported Arsene before, but you can’t overlook bad management in 2008 because of great management in 2004.

Sorry, but it just doesn’t wash any more to talk about “frustration” or to rue refereeing decisions after games like Stoke, Spurs, Sunderland, Hull and Fulham.

The manager alone is responsible for a defence lacking in authority, a midfield lacking aggression and an attack lacking confidence. The team as a whole lacks leadership on the pitch. Tactics and formations are increasingly bizarre experiments. Substitutions always occur too late and usually do little to change the game.

Arsene Wenger seems to be accountable to nobody and when the supporters (paying good money) start to get restless they are rebuked at the AGM.

Wenger is a truly great spotter and nurturer of talent. He is a brilliant attack-minded visionary. He turned Arsenal round. But his talents are on the wane now. He seems scared of confronting underperforming players, has got badly stuck on this teenager thing, cannot coach a defence and does not know how to change a game from the bench.

I think, on balance, he has had his day and we should not look to renew his contract when it comes up for renegotiation. Let’s give him an amazing tribute then look elsewhere for leadership at Arsenal.

  131. Agree with every word there Old Git. Spot on
Y[d Army-I did some horrible things to your Mums Arse after winning the league at your place. Happy memories for me and her no doubt.

  132. Right sorry fo my rant last night.
Ive had a bad week and I was very drunk last night.
    Havn’t we been here before.
losing 7-1 to man u with Vivas and Stepanov as CB’s
0-0 against Villa many years ago. When Petit lost the plot and was subbed before he was sent off.
How about losing 4-1 to Locmotive Moscow or 3-1 away to Bayern.
What I’m saying here is that they were all very bad Arsenal results under AW.
    Did it cause armageddon? No
AW learn’t from those games and corrected his mistakes.
AW could walk into any job in world football. Bar the the 3 teams ahead of us.
When have Arsenal lost 3 games on bounce under AW?
Who’s out there thats any better?
Mourinihos a cunt who plays negative football.
Much as I loved GG,his last couple of years were not much fun to watch.
I’d rather we competed in the CL every season than win the FA cup and finish mid table

  133. Well said ‘OLD GIT’ perhaps you are as old as me (66) and seen it all before ,too many times in fact.

Only Arsenal FC can build great teams t should win everything for years to come only to cock it all up by (a) not paying the wages someone deserves or (b) refusing to acknowledge that your manager (as great as he is) has a fatal flaw ie; HE HAS NEVER HAD ANY IDEA HOW TO BUILD A DEFENCE !

This is the sole reason for the up & down performances of this current team, and last seasons, and every season since THE FAMOUS SIX RETIRED.

Sad but true and nothing will change even if we fluke a win or draw against Manure.

The team AW put out yesterday was because he is convinced that we only have to turn up at places like Fulham & Stoke and they will stand back in awe. So he starts with an unbalanced side full of weaknesses that was bound to offer no fear to Stoke. He then panics into bringing on some real Guns only (a) to lose Walcott for some time and (b) VP shows that he is still a yob with skill. So what did AW prove to himself…again? I suspect he learned nothing at all.

  134. Guys every team goes through a rough spell and this is ours so stop whining and get m=behind the team

  135. First u don,t really think Wenger believes what he says to the press u all act as if u think he is talking to Arsenal fans he is talking to others cause Arsenal fans should know the truth 2nd what other way could he have approach the situation without money.Buy u say buy who how many 20m players r there for 7m for the last 3 years & probably 2 more he has had 20m a year transfer kitty & a wage structure. A not unreasonable wage structure for owners with 100m each only problem the bloke with 20B didn,t wont to be reasonable.Tactics if u can,t play 442 your not good enough

  136. ps. Arsenal fan from Liam Brady days But soon to be Man. City fan Robino, Aguero in January +++

  137. Bottom line is we didn’t strenghen in the summer when we clearly needed to. Man u spent £20+ mil on one striker even though they won the double. Chelsea and Liverpool also strenghened. We had a weak squad already and then lost Gilberto, Lehman, Hoyte, Hleb, Senderos and the Flamster and only replaced one (Hleb - Nasri) adequately.

I hope we have a shit run of guns as it seems it will be the only way for Wenger to be shaken from his malady. Nobody at board level is challenging him. I can’t see any other way for that to happen. We are subject to the same old, tired crap that the team has ‘potential’. That the spirit is good. This needs to translate into trophies, but with the current squad it just wont.

  138. Vito, the problem is anyone who knows anything about football knew we were going to have a rough spell (make that rough season to be honest) & Wenger did nothing to stop it.
That’s the problem & frankly it’s worth whining about.

  139. i totally agree with bobby.even i feel the same. his idiotic notion that”football is nt abt selling nd buying players ” r getting on my nerves.this club is not a charity foundation…the rules shud clear nd simple “if u can’t deliver then get lost”.b it coach or a player

  140. Wenger obviously gambled a bit with the selection v. Stoke with the CL (let’s qualify early) and MU games to come… Didn’t pay off. (Confidence low… Stoke’s approach… Sigh.) Such is football. Next. A win against ManUre and off we go again….

  141. The end of an era

Four next Premier League fixtures follow:

Arsenal v Man Utd, (no CF or Ade or TW or RVP)
Arsenal v Aston Villa (no TW or RVP)
    Man City v Arsenal
    Chelsea v Arsenal

Given the injuries and suspensions we may loose all four games, we are imploding. We will be in 8-9th position going into December. If this happens Wenger will have to go.

  142. Wenger go upstairs, bring back George.

  143. Where is all this optimism coming from? La la Land? The Magic Roundabout? Far, Far Away? Arsenal will get absolutely pummeled at home to Man United. For those of us who knew John Radford, Liam Brady, Charlie Nicholas, David Rocastle, David Seaman, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires, next weekend will feel like a visit to the dentist.

  144. just listening to wengers excuses after the game. we were tired. jesus christ only 10 games into the season and we,r e tired . god help us. what kind of primadonnas have we got playing for this club

  145. kenny johnson & yid army-a couple of pricks supporting a shithole of a club that judges their success by arsenals’ failures-says it all-totally classless, not even londons third team these days-& harry will f**k off or get sacked b4 end of sesson(incidentally he’s a gooner)& some other sad bas***d will take over-what can you say about a club that produces a dvd of a jammy draw for F**ks sake!!HA!ha!ha!ho!ho!ho!& there was only 1000 of the tossres left in the ground to see it-that’s how much we shat on you bitches!!!

  146. Bring back George?

    You must be fucking joking.

  147. Arsenal is a team couldn’t attract any star in their 26-30 due to their yearly contract for player age above 30.
Arsenal couldn’t attract star players with their salary cap..

  148. You guys make me sick!!
Instead of supporting the team and the coach when they really need it everybody are just talking bullshit! We have only played 10 games, and 6 points behind the leaders is not that bad. So what if you lead at the end of october, we did last years and it didnt give us anything. As we saw yesterday, everyone can lose, Liverpool did, and so will the other “Big 4″teams.

It is easy to support and be behind the team when it is doing well. You should be ashamed of yourselves! I am not saying that everything is ok right now, it obviously isnt. I am also very frustrated and upset at the moment, but bashing the coach and all the young players that everyone were praising just a month ago is not the solution.

  149. I agree with Ivs. You haters and plastics make me sick. Get behind the team, you fools. Sports, like life, has its ups and downs. Other than football, I also happen to follow F1. Hamilton made some stupid mistakes in the seaon. He was behind Massa and Kubica for a period of time. But now, he is now on the verge of winning the championship. You don’t give up on your team when it is down and especially when they are just 6 points behind the leaders and are still in contention for the title, the CL, the FA Cup and the League Cup. You ride out the rough times and keep your sense of perspective when the good times come. It’s not how great that you are when times are good that defines you. It’s how you behave when you are down that defines you. I will be behind the team during this bad patch and I will be behind them when the good times inevitably come around again.

  150. Yeah great lets all stick behind the team, things ain’t all that bad are they? Well I’m afraid they fucking well are, there are people on here(myself included) who are old enough to see when things at our club have gone seriously tits up. Yeah lets get behind Eboue,Denilson,Song and our worst ever captain, Wenger says we must that these youngsters are good enough. Well I think not and anyone who has seen us this calender year knows we’re know where near to winning the Premier or Champs League, you can probably add FA and League cup to that as Wenger won’t bother taking them seriously, ref Old Trafford and Shite Hart lane last season.
We can get behind the team but this team ain’t good enough and there is 1 man to blame who as others have stated is answerable to no one.

  151. Ivs,Lex,you need to grow up.Calling people haters & plastics just because they can see we’re in trouble ? That makes me sick.

  152. There’s no team to get behind, these spoilt kids don’t even fight.

  153. “That c**t Styles has just booked Cesc for trying to get on with the game. Apologies for the swearing but had you seen the incident you’d understand where I’m coming from.”

Totaly agree with you, mate, that kind of sabotage and provoking from stokeplayer should be a straight red card… It’s a disgrace that Cesc gets a yellow for trying to take the ball back and get on with it, without doing anything. Styles i terrible.

  154. The buck stops here with Wenger! Admit fault in transfer market, ignoring need for stronger defence, team formation, choice of players, etc… Time to go, and stop trying to play fantiasy footbal in the real world of robust english epl!!

  155. And calling the team spoilt kids and portraying the manager as a deluded over the hill wanker isn’t ? Yes the team is in trouble. But we don’t make the trouble worse by kicking out the manager at the beginning of the season. Yes it is still the beginning of the season. It’s bloody November, for heaven’s sake. We are only 6 points behind Chelsea and Liverpool. We are also in contention for CL. FA and League Cup. Get a grip, you guys !!!

We need to address the weakness in the team but the least we can do as fans is to get behind the manager, a club and a team. If we kick Wenger out now and we end up being a midtable team by end of the season, everyone is going to laugh at us - with Man U and Spurs scums laughing the hardest. It’s what everyone wants to see Arsenal failing. Give him until the end of the season and we’ll see whether we need to change the manager till then. Anything else is overreaction at this point. Which is why I am calling the haters and plastics as what they are. They, I repeat, make me sick.

  156. If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
    And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
    And stoop and build ‘em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man my son!

    Rudyard Kipling

  157. More wisdom from Lex : ‘And calling the team spoilt kids and portraying the manager as a deluded over the hill wanker isn’t ? ‘
I think you’ll find the vast majority of people weren’t stating that at all. You’re just portraying everyone who can see the truth - that our ‘title challenge’ is completely over & thinking anything else is just delusional - the same as the ‘Wenger out & all our players are rubbish’ crowd.
There is a huge difference & speaking the truth doesn’t make someone a plastic or a hater.
99% of all the Arsenal fans who are unhappy with how Wenger let this season slip away will still roar the team on at every oppurtunity & pray they’re somehow wrong despite all the evidence that they’re not. If people like that make you sick then that’s your problem.

  158. Hahahaha…..where are you haters now? We beat Man U 2-1. Let’s see who are the plastics and who are the true fans.

  159. Lex,you truly are a moron.
