City 3 Arsenal 0: Shellshocked Gunners left wanting United to beat Villa
THREE reasons why this was absolutely horrible:
1) A woeful afternoon on the pitch.
2) Watching it on a terrible stream.
3) Watching it surrounded by my brother in law’s distant relatives who were meant to have left long before 3pm but outstayed their welcome and then decided they were Arsenal fans who knew what they were talking about. They were not. In any f**king sense. Had they known nothing about Arsenal I could have accepted it. But they professed to know what they were talking about in a series of comments that beggared belief. They have also apparently started going to the odd game since we moved to the Emirates and are exactly the clueless type the new ground has attracted. One of them even called for more “compassion” at one point.
And they are blood relations of mine.
And if they read this blog, I’m f**ked. But I think the chances of that are slim.
We are, in short, shellshocked. We’re lurching punch-drunk against the ropes with little clue of how to get back onto our feet.
The squad is decimated, but whereas the absence of three perfectly capable right-backs is woeful luck, the shambles that is our central midfield is all of our own making. Denilson and Song are, by some distance, the least scary central midfield we have ever had.
Our immune system is weak, meaning what should be a minor nuisance of an attack develops into a full-on crisis.
We are left watching Villa v United hoping the visitors win, our minds not on the title race, but our own chase for fourth.
The good news is that by sacking Gallas as captain, Arsene has, like an alcoholic, taken the first step to recovery by admitting there is a real problem.
It is all very disappointing. But if you ask me who the man is who can make us great again, I’d say Arsene Wenger, albeit one whose eyes are open to where it has gone so wrong this time round. And you can be in no doubt that our rivals would be delighted to see him leave.

22 November 2008 at 7:42 pm
Ouch, that really hurt!
22 November 2008 at 7:46 pm
i love this club, it’s been sad 2 watch Arsene Wenger dismantling what he built so well!
22 November 2008 at 7:48 pm
3 nil bloody hell.although the defeat was hard i still believ arseanl will make the top four
22 November 2008 at 7:49 pm
look at the scoreline arsene.im tired of your excuses.
22 November 2008 at 7:51 pm
i used to luv arsenal.but now all the wonderful football has been wiped out.we definitely need new players
22 November 2008 at 7:59 pm
I feel like all of those players tried hard. but not enough of them are good enough to win matches. the way the confidence oozed out of the team as the second half went on was very, very depressing to watch. so depressing. not having a go at song or denilson, but thinking about how a year ago we had flamini and diarra (in the carling cup team!) …even more depressing.
the whole project is very fragile now. i’m not even sure buying players in january will fix it now, if certain of the players start to lose faith in arsene
22 November 2008 at 7:59 pm
go fucking follow someone else then will
22 November 2008 at 8:03 pm
arsenal definitely need you new players you dumb retard
22 November 2008 at 8:05 pm
ya go to hell mr will
22 November 2008 at 8:05 pm
I think the pressure was too much for our players. Even Almunia and Clichy (two of our captaincy candidates!) looked incredibly nervous. Its sad that beyond Cesc & Ade we dont have anyone that can lift the team. Those two + Hleb & Flamini were carrying the team last season.
Cant believe I am praying for a late United winner!
22 November 2008 at 8:07 pm
all of you have to think arsenal really do need new players otherwise we wont be able to rest players like fabregas who has definitely worn out
22 November 2008 at 8:11 pm
i agree will bentdner, song, denilson are not good enough for the arsenal, look at how many players out today!!!! but you dont love em anymore, i always will, you’re a 2 bob fan fuck off down to tottenham
22 November 2008 at 8:18 pm
also arsenal definitely need to appoint a new captain.gallas dosent even want to be in the arsenal team.
22 November 2008 at 8:20 pm
by the way invincible i would iust like to say.go fuck yourself
22 November 2008 at 8:25 pm

22 November 2008 at 8:34 pm
i am sorry obviously you are a schoolboy, cos you’re spelling is shit too!!!!!
22 November 2008 at 8:34 pm
its all about centre midfield. At the moment we neither protect the defence nor create opportunities . There is simply no balance to the team.
22 November 2008 at 8:37 pm
a shame invincible that you cant curse.thats the only way you could stand up for yourself
22 November 2008 at 8:39 pm
why the hell are you an arsenal fan when you dont know anything about arsenal.
22 November 2008 at 8:39 pm
Wenger what the f**k is going on mate the team is shit people are walking over us at home and away. New players needed very asap!!!!!!!!
22 November 2008 at 8:45 pm
wow.. that was awful!
with liverpool, chelsea and united all drawing this would’ve been a great game to edge out with all 3 pnts. sadly most of our squad didn’t show up today… ramsey looked positive tho.
what’s this that wenger said after game bout gallas still having a future at the club? bollocks!
22 November 2008 at 8:46 pm
Today was not good, but it was not as bad as the scoreline suggested.
Firstl half we shaded and if Wiley had got his cards out then it would have changed the way the game panned out.
The turning point was the first goal, a bit of a calamity, not sure what silvestre was doing, poor communication at the back?
The midfield dissappeared in the second half and city then ran out worthy winners.
However it was very much decided by the first half events.
22 November 2008 at 8:48 pm
Hey cousin, i am shell shocked at your comments! I thought u enjoyed our stay….
I am hurt and so is cousin jack and aunt jemima…
Go Chelsea!
22 November 2008 at 8:48 pm
I believe today will be the turning point where everything that is missing will be sorted. It really could be a blessing in disguise!!
I hope not ,but i believe Billy Gallas has come out with all the disloyal stuff to generate interest in his book.- Shame really…..Just like Cashley Holes book it will be quickly forgotten. I can’t see how he has a future at the club. I wonder if Matty Upson would return????
Keep the faith
22 November 2008 at 8:48 pm
Here’s what we really need:
Defence: 2 huge f*cks who dont take any shit from anyone, in the middle, with Clichy at LB and Sagna at RB.
Midfield: De Rossi/Yaya/Alonso at CM with Cesc, Ramsey at the right and Nasri at the left or Rosicky behind the strikers
Strikers: Eduardo and Ade/RVP/Vela
22 November 2008 at 8:52 pm
Sounds good to me Tim. Who’s De Rossi?
22 November 2008 at 9:00 pm
Goodplaya I usually find it very hard to disagree with any of your posts, but your leap in faith of Arsene Wenger surprises me this time.
Whilst I agree he at this moment in time is the best man to get us back on track, I think he seriously needs to prove this in the January transfer window, because everyone’s patience is rightly wearing very thin.
1) We all knew Gallas was a rubbish captain a year ago, yet it took Wenger until now to realise.
2) We all knew the squad needed desperate strengthening in the summer in midfield and defence, yet Wenger penny pinched 2 million quid and lost out on Xabi Alonso, and thought things would be ok.
3) We all can see week in week out that Bendtner is not good enough, yet we today watch another crap performance by him whilst Vela warms the bench.
4) It’s plain obvious we do not carry out any defensive drills in training… cast your mind back to the season we reached the CL final… that season saw a very make shift defense including Flamini at RB, and the apparently suspect Senderos in the middle, yet we did not concede a single goal until the final… why? Martin Keown was part of our coaching staff whilst working at AFC to obtain his coaching badges. (not rocket science Arsene is it?)
5) Today against Man City, Fabregas is suspended, so if Arsene continues to adopt the idea that Diaby and Fabregas are both too offensive to play alongside each other, what better time to play Diaby central alongside Denilson?… instead he plays Alex fkng Song there instead and puts Diaby on the wing AGAIN… why hasn’t he sold Diaby if he clearly doesn’t trust him to play in his own best position?
So as I say Goodplaya, at this moment in time I agree Arsene is the best man to get us back on track, BUT only if he proves in January that he has learnt from some pretty big whopping errors he’s made over the last year.
22 November 2008 at 9:02 pm
Letting Wenger go would be a terrible idea. Getting someone in to help him out in whatever capacity (e.g. CEO/Director of Ops) would be a good thing. I think the Board has to be proactive here and make the appointment and speak to Wenger about tweaking his philosophy of buying players.
Like everyone’s being saying, this is a problem every fan knew we had and yet Wenger didn’t fix the problem. The frustration stems from that more than anything else. Two experienced players in the summer and we’d not be talking about whether we make it into 4th but about titles.
This game though has to be put into the perspective of an international break (we usually don’t do well after), the injuries to key players (Sagna, Kolo, Ade, not to mention Walcott), and the fiasco that is the Gallas saga.
I hope we’ll be better against Kiev in midweek.
22 November 2008 at 9:05 pm
the answer to your question mat t.de rossi is a defensive midfielder who plays for roma and italy.he plays a bit like gattuso
22 November 2008 at 9:07 pm
bgun i agree.know manager a can manage youngsters better than arsene wenger
22 November 2008 at 9:13 pm
i hope that dpk idiot wont come with his flamini talk.anyway i just have the pleasure in saying arsenal sucks and liverpool will always rule
22 November 2008 at 9:17 pm
i watched the game too, on S sports. The channel was even more frastrating than the game itself, as the live streaming would hang for about 15 minutes and resume again. this is however, not the point i wanted to express
Arsenal has been by far THE club that brings quality on the pitch. In contrasting not-so-arsenal-like game they played today(this week too!) was indeed worrisome. The magnitude of this loss will not only depress the players and the old manager but also have an impact on thier fans.
As i love the club as any supporter would do, i would like to stress on some points
1)the defence must somehow be strengthened up. the first goal sucked, although i must say that the finish was superb. a serious back pass error by ever solid clichy could have ended up at the back of the net.Mid needs more reinforcement. Song basically sucked even more, his shots were wide and his usual haircut is a pain in my ass, the reason why? HE is f**ked up
2)with quality and influential players on the sidelines, thanks to injury and suspension issues, it is understandable that Arsenal would not display thier level of gameplay. Yet, arsenal is arsenal and none would have thought city would strip arsenal naked. The gunners are in serious need of gunpowder. It needs more firepower. the passing wont do any harm to the opponent unless they are sneaked past the defence and triggered towards the opponents goalpost. if not the atleast the golie.but what did we see today? relatively less shots on targets. this explains wenger needs to make a series of serious change to his tactics. And that of cource, is not my job to advice the frenchmen.I am confident that he will bring some positive to the pitch and on the players in the games to come
22 November 2008 at 9:19 pm
What’s the point of playing Diaby with Denilson when neither defend? It’s why Cesc is shit atm. He’;s having to work twice as hard to defend more because Denilson’s not defensive enough. And Diaby’s more offensive than Denilson.
We had Cesc, Denilson AND Diaby in CM against Utd and there was ZERO protection for the defense. That is frankly SHOCKING with 3 CMs. If they have no defense with a 3 man central midfield do you think taking the two most offensive from the two as our CM pairing is a good idea?
If you want the scoreline to have been 6-0 today maybe.
Good God we need Martin Keown back NOW. Not only could he make a massive difference, he’s a absolute fucking LEGEND.
22 November 2008 at 9:29 pm
Today…We should have played Ramsey
(center),Jack(right),Song(center),Nasr(left)i with RVP playing behind Vela…Thats a midfield with lttle expierience but alot of heart to play football, but…I dont think Wenger wants to take a chance with the youngsters…So please tell me,why did we buy them?
22 November 2008 at 9:30 pm
“Denilson and Song are, by some distance, the least scary central midfield we have ever had.”
I dunno, I was pretty terrified when I saw them on the team-sheet.
22 November 2008 at 10:11 pm
First up, my reaction the the game was “OUCH, City played the way we normally play and we played the way city normally does”. The next thing was the sad realization that the most reasonable goal for us this season is to secure a champions league spot while treating this year as a test year to assess who stays, who goes and who we need to buy. Barring a miracle, there is an extremely slim chance of winning the title this season.
We desperately need a fighter (or even TWO) in the middle of the park and we have to survive without even one until January and by then, the way this team is playing, we will be resigned to the fact that we will have to FIGHT for a champions league spot. And with Gall-ass effectively getting thrown out, we need a central defender to complement Kolo and maybe a goalie who can organize the defense better. Our forward line is depleted at present but with 3 world class strikers and one young and upcoming talent in Vela (I’ll get to Bendtner in a bit), I think we’re fine unless in a ridiculous injury situation like the current one.
Today’s game was evidence enough for me that Ramsey is a decent alternative to Cesc as a playmaker while there is a growing feeling that Denilson, Diaby, Song and Bendtner deserve to be booted out. I think Denilson’s and Song’s young age could possibly mean they can still get better so it might be a good idea to send them out on loan for a bit. Diaby needs to go as he is too much of a bit part player to really fit any specific role because he can basically do several things (holding mid, slot behind striker, wings etc) but he does nothing well. Bendtner on the other hand just does not have the ability to play in our team’s system and the biggest contributions he makes are to disrupt the team’s offense (the liverpool incident comes to mind). He’ll make a decent target man in a slower league maybe but he’s not for us (watching him struggle for pace and strength.today was painful).
As for all the criticism targeted at wenger, I agree that to some extent he has made some mistakes (making gallas captain, letting diarra/flamini go). But when you look at the big picture, would you rather have any other coach in the world to bring us out of this sticky situation? I totally agree with GP that AW is the man to make us great again. With all the so called “Fans” asking for him to be sacked right now, I’d like to ask them one thing — would you rather have a manager who just grinds out results like mou and is only interested in the points or would you have someone like AW who believes in the beautiful game and feels that the only way the game should be played is with class. I know which one I prefer because I know that the majority of the fans who started supporting Arsenal in recent years (these guys are usually the most fickle and hence the most vocal), only started supporting the team because we are football purists and we represent the game at its most classy form.
So people, give it some time, let the flames die down, everyone makes mistakes, and most learn from their mistakes. Things will get better no matter how grim it seems at present. And even now in Arsene I trust, and in Arsenal I believe. GO GUNNERS
22 November 2008 at 10:24 pm
Ryan, yes I grant you that none of our midfielders are defence minded, but Diaby at least installs some presence with his size and overall ability which is only 2nd to Cesc in midfield.
He was captain and central midfielder to the National French Under-21’s when we bought him… since then where do you think his international career has gone? nowhere, because his progression has been stifled by Wenger refusing to play him in his best position.
As far as our midfielders not defending against Man Utd, that is simply down to the manager and captain… Look at Steven Gerrard, he tracks back to defend all the time for Liverpool despite being an offensive midfielder… we simply don’t know how to defend, do no defensive drills in training, and it shows right through our team… even when Sp*rs scored those late goals against us it was Cesc not having a clue about ‘keeping the ball’…
But like you say, bring back Martin Keown and that would solve MANY of our current problems…
22 November 2008 at 11:05 pm
Wenger’s not learning from his mistakes, he’s letting them blow up in his face(gallas). I hope Wenger can learn in January, if not, then it doesn’t look good. Wenger’s current project is turning into a worldwide joke.
22 November 2008 at 11:47 pm
did u notice the way kompany was makin his presence felt? Thats wat we r lacking…we need a purchase in that area+some no nonsense guy in dmf
23 November 2008 at 12:26 am
GP I wasn’t at your place today thankfully. I hear (like the stirring of the first winter cuckoo) there might just be a rumour of a word from a member of the Board of Directors of AFC (The Chairman even) in support of our Manager in the press tomorrow…only a rumour though. If the rumour is true, then about time. Peter the Banker, Danny the Jeweller, Lord H the carpet man, Sir Chips the asset manager, Lady Nina etc all have the common Director’s touch and seem to know nothing about…….football. I see Wenger as isolated and without a football person on the Board since David Dein was dumped out of the Club. Where’s the new MD? They wanted to appoint the man from Vodaphone ……. perfect as not being a football man. Where is Arsene’s support at a difficult time a time which all Manager’s go through? We fans should be supporting him including the 20,000 Johnny come latelys and boo-boys who have been sad additions to the move to the Emirates. You need to ask yourselves who out there would do a better job.Danny Fizman said ‘ he’s got £30 million.to spend’. Well Danny, Guiza was available in the summer for £20 million -who noticed him playing in Fernabache’s team a couple of weeks ago? It isn’t so easy - is it? So for me it is rot from the top - sweep away the Board, bring back David Dein tomorrow because if Arsene clears off do any of the present Board have the foresight to find a new Wenger which was Mr Dein’s legacy to our Club? I doubt it. Get behind the Manager and therefore the team…
23 November 2008 at 12:39 am
like i said before arsenal do need new players.i just watched match of the day some of the passes arsenal made were appaling.although alan hansen is my worst enemy i have to admit that most of the time he is right about arsenal.this is one of the dark days but hopefully arsenal wenger will finally buy some quality.
23 November 2008 at 12:43 am
i really think arsenal should sell bendtner.he barely gets the ball and when he does get the ball he squanders possesion.he is also extremely slow with no skill.vela will make an excellent replacement.
23 November 2008 at 1:47 am
When Paddy came over from Ireland,
In praise of the AFC
We hadn’t won an awful lot,
Since nineteen fifty three
But he’d stand at the back of the Clock End,
In the sun and the rain
Week after week for many a year,
But never the trophy came
Second leg of the Fair’s Cup Final,
We’d already lost away
We needed to pull something outta the bag,
In order to save the day
Then Paddy remembered a ditty,
That his father used to sing
And quickly jumped up onto his feet,
And he started to sing it again
So Paddy got up and he sung it again
Over and over and over again,
B’Jesus said Paddy
I sung it so well,
i think i’ll get up and i’ll sing it again,
So Paddy got up and he sung it again
23 November 2008 at 6:23 am
Let me tell you, sitting up until 4am on a Sunday morning here in Melbourne, Australia, to watch this debacle just sharpened the sense of desolation.
Goodplaya, I hope you are right. I will be eternally in debt to Mr. Wenger for all the pleasure his teams have given me over the years. It’s due to the depth of that debt that I’m prepared to believe he can do it again.
All the obvious bench marks say other wise. Time to flip the old adage on its head. Seeing might be believing. Right now I’m believing in the hope of once again seeing.
23 November 2008 at 8:12 am
Great managers can lose it. Brian Clough won the European Cup twice before taking Nottingham Forest down to the second division a decade later. Great teams can lose it. Man United won the European Cup in 1968 and were relegated from the first division in 1974.
Arsenal have been in decline for four years now. I think that will continue. Bringing in a manager of the stature, class and track record of Fabio Capello or Vincent Del Bosque or Guus Hiddink (note: the requirement of class would rule out Jose Mourinho) while moving Wenger upstairs as Scouting and Academy Chief is what Arsenal need now.
23 November 2008 at 8:52 am
JC, your arrongance is as astounding as your delusions of grandeur.
Using phrases like…”i grant you this” etc. You actually think Wenger will have to go if he doesnt address your concerns in January? Unless your name happens to be Danny Fiszman I doubt anyone will give a toss about what you think or say.
23 November 2008 at 8:57 am
Old Git,
Cant we wait before the season finishes before we bleat things like kick wenger upstairs and get a new manager? How much of a chance have you or other fans given Wenger anyway? You and others think that the last 3 years have been trying times for the club? What standards of ’success’ are we using here? Do we know anything of the restrictions that Wenger has had to operate in?
In essence, who on earth are we to judge and damn him so.
23 November 2008 at 10:56 am
AW has missed the point when trying to emulate the Man Utd team of the late 1990s. The money that was saved on bringing through young talent at the club was used to purchase players in positions not occupied, or at least not occupied well enough, by the young players he was bringing through.
None of the young players brought through by Fergie were strikers. His outlay in this position was extensive. The same can be said in central defence.
Trying to fill every position with a young player who has come through the ranks, admittedly to varying degrees, is idealistic at best. There are enough excellent young players at Arsenal to form a core around which a successful team can be built. That is the approach Fergie took - not fielding a team that was full of young players from front to back.
I believe that the situation can be saved. It’s just a bit late for this season.
23 November 2008 at 11:30 am
most of you are still missing the point arsenal need new players capice.
23 November 2008 at 11:31 am
all of you are just whining and crying.all of you will change your mind at the end of the season
23 November 2008 at 12:04 pm
now that i think about it look at the quality players that did not play.adebayor.rosicky and da silva.they are the main threats to the arsenal team.
23 November 2008 at 12:44 pm
4 words: In Arsene we trust!!!
23 November 2008 at 12:45 pm
AJ you are a complete and utter idiot (note that I’m being generous with my wording)…
you say: “Unless your name happens to be Danny Fiszman I doubt anyone will give a toss about what you think or say.”
er, in that case why are you on this website as no AFC officials will ‘give a toss’ about what any of us think or say, it’s just a forum to exhange views and opinions between fans.
Everyone else on this forum has expressed their own views, all reasonable opinions… your only comment is an abusive one to a fellow fan… go away.
23 November 2008 at 1:52 pm
jc please,shut up.
23 November 2008 at 1:53 pm
and stop whining
23 November 2008 at 3:51 pm
Wenger you F**king plank. All you can do is complain about City”s 3rd goal. What fucking difference did it make.Your bunch of Spineless Gutless overpaid bottlers got outplayed by an average City team. For God”s sake Wenger pull you finger out or fuck off
Will if you think Wenger will buy in january you are living in cloud cuckoo land. The man is too stubborn to change things. You say yesterday was a dark day what about the Fulham, Hull, Stoke, Villa, City and Spurs too many fucking bad days
23 November 2008 at 4:00 pm
Mum’s cousin (today at 12.26am) is absolutely right. Arsene misses David Dein badly. Arsene can’t do everything and it’s clearly not his forte keeping a grip on existing players’ contracts (flamini, adebayor) and being savvy enough and well connected to do the deals to land the big players, such as Alonso. Poor old Ken Friar is hardly a replacement. It’s now also clear that Wenger needed a counterbalance to his visionary but slightly mad ideas about building a young team to rule the world. He needs someone who knows football and who he respects to persuade him to bring in more established players and to spend money.
I think Arsene overestimated the “mental strength” of his current squad and underestimated the importance of Flamini in the team last year. We have no defensive shield now. Cesc is right out of form, certainly partly because of lack of a good CM partner, but everything goes through Cesc - we’re totally reliant on him - which means that when he plays well so do we, but when he is out of form we are wretched.
Some of you will be horrified but I would welcome a takeover bid right now which brings Dein back.
23 November 2008 at 4:11 pm
Get over yourself “Wenger have you got a clue?”, your probably one of those spoilt brats that became gooners when Wenger joined the club! So f*ck off you stupid f*ck, Wenger has done a lot for this club and he will continue doing great things for this club! You are just one of thows idiotic pukes, that jump ship as soon as the team goes through a rough patch! Go f*ck yourself!!!
23 November 2008 at 4:21 pm
rightly said tim.if you dont like whats hapopening then simply fuck off.
23 November 2008 at 5:39 pm
Bendtner had a really good first half, I thought.
Strange how RVP never really featured, all considered… Not his fault, I think (see below)…
Diaby looks class to me. But how to use him optimally? …
Midfield otherwise looked… confused, I thought. As though not sure how to go about their business. Denilson had a mare obviously and knew he was having it (thereby making it all the worse), but more than that… hey…
Ireland for City was top, top quality. A brilliant performance from that man. WOW!
SWP was right up for it too. Robinho of course…. Superb tactics from Mark Hughes to enable all that as well… that late-sprung/watch-and-plunge midfield… Very good indeed. Fair play to City.
The Premier League is a lot, lot harder this season.
Come on, Arsenal!!
23 November 2008 at 5:58 pm
alex you are right.arsenal was outclassed.i am not afraid to admit it but manchester city have the money to massacre us.
23 November 2008 at 6:09 pm
arsenal are definitely going to lose to chelsea.there is simply not enough quality for arsenal to beat them.
23 November 2008 at 6:11 pm
JC,
The club will be richer without your ’support’.
23 November 2008 at 6:11 pm

23 November 2008 at 6:44 pm
Comeon andy, liverpool??? Liverpool have not won the league since 1990, that’s 18 years ago. So shut up, damn idiot! What are you doing on an Arsenal blog anyway?
23 November 2008 at 6:44 pm

23 November 2008 at 9:27 pm
Will and Andy Pandy, 2 teenagers with far too much time on there hands, run along children, go on shoo shoo
23 November 2008 at 9:42 pm
This IS a crisis.
This calls for drastic measures.
AW needs to dis-assemble this team and then re-assemble it sooner rather than later.
He only has 30million. So heres what he needs to do.
Sell Adebayor, RVP & NB in Jan.
Why? Cause Arsenal have never really played with target men since John Hartson. NB too slow and needs to play for a team with out & out wingers who will cross the ball. Ain’t good enough. Should get 5 mil for him.
RVP is too inconsistant and is not a team player. Great to have on the bench but lets be honest he has never carved out an effective strike partnership with anybody either for Arsenal or for Holland. Should get 12 Mil for him.
Ade is also too inconsistant. He misses far too many sitters and gets caught off side far too much. Should get 15 mil for him.
All 3 are known trouble makers anyway.
Arsenal should then sign David Villa. Should cost about 18 mil.
He’s quick strong and skillful and a very good mate of Cesc.
In Jan Eduardo should be back and I would play the combination of either Vela & Villa or Eduardo and Villa. I would also promote Simpson to the first team squad. This lad reminds me of Ian Wright. He was voted player of the championship last year. The gap between the championship and premiership has never been closer. We’ve already lost to Hull and Stoke and dropped 4 points against Birmingham this year.
Also I would start playing Walcott up front when he returns from injury. So will definately not be short of forwards.
3 trouble makers gone and healthy profit. Now for Gallas. Offer him to Barcalona and take Ya Ta Toure in exchange, That another one gone.
Then Arsenal need to sign Veloso from Sporting Lisborn. Veloso can play in either cm or cb and in the words of Gab Marcottie. Totally runs the midfield. He is still only playing for the under 21’s but is the hottest prospect in Portugal. Will cost about 20 mil. We need to get in there before anybody else. We could also chuck in Denilson as part of the deal to keep the price down.
At the back I’d like to see a Toure and JD partnership given time to flourish. There are really no world class centre backs avaliable at the moment and we will just have to stick with what we have for the time being.
I would also sign the Bolton keeper until the end of the season. Exchange him for Almunia use Fabi for the cup games.
I would also like to see Gibbs now playing on the left to give Clichy some cover and also to bomb forward. Nasari on the right. and don’t forget that Rosicky will come back at some stage.
No point selling Diaby cause we would not make any money. Plus with all that competition in midfield he start turning in perfrmances when he is required to play. Song back up cb nothing else.
Of course we’re talking Jan here so until then we might as well take a punt on Ramsey, Wilshire and Gibbs starting regulary. Lets be honest we are almost there in the CL and we’re out the title. We have fuck all to lose.
Arseanal forever!

80s Gooner your lengthy statement there makes this all seem as easy as pie. It really is, alot easier said then done. Plus, realistically we know Arsene won’t sell Ade,RVP AND Bendtner all in one January sale.
I do agree we need to buy some more players to strengthen parts of the squad, but a major revamp is hard to see in one Winter transer window.

Actually, I think the biggest culprits can be singled out.
Denilson- looks so lost at the moment, every time he receives the ball you expect him to lose it. His defending is dire, and cant even put in a half-hearted tackle
Diaby- I think this guy is what gallas was talking about. laziest wanker ever to play for Arsenal. You can sometimes tolerate an experienced playmaker to “take it easy” , but for a 21 yr old who has achieved nothing, this is unacceptable.Indeed Hleb, rosicky were both hard working as well technically gifted
Song- like denilson he’s generally mediocre at the moment. not too much to be said.
I actually thought the rest of the team played quite well, in particular nasri was outstanding

Message to Austin.
FUCK OFF YOU CUNT
Arsenal are crap at the moment. Anyone can see it.
Ive been following this team for over 30 years.
I went to every home game from 84-92 and travelled up and down the country surporting the team at various shithole grounds up north last season I went to two thirds of the home games.
Brain Talbort & Steve Williams were better midfielders than those clowns Song & Denilson.
