Nice article, it’s scary how Lawton has been making sense of late.

  2. Andy Says:

It is worrying when you agree with him. But it’s just plain silly for Taylor and Aliadiere to get the same punishments.

  3. Football Credit Card Says:

I still don’t think it justified the suffering Eduardo is going through.

And I dislike the fact that the writer must always refer to manure and Sir Alex the Cheat in his article.

We’ve yet to hear anything from the Sir… he could be jumping up and down celebrating with his players for Eduardo incident.

I would prefer Taylor to hang up his boots as there is no excuse for whatever reason given.

This is not a question of intent. If you’re a criminal, and you tell the judge you do not intent to hurt or kill someone, do you go free? You need to be punished.

Taylor and Birmingham should be severly fined for the damage done to Eduardo and the club. i would love to see someone bring Taylor to the court for a trial.

If you see the reaction of the Arsenal players especially Fabregas during the incident, you know the agony the Arsenal players are suffering. This could have long term effect to them as well.

  4. Thor Says:

Why can’t the less gifted players and the FA think that way, too…..

  5. Exiled Says:

Football Credit Card is right. Intent is not quite the point. The criminal law makes a distinction between murder, manslaughter and accident. Murder is malicious and premeditated. Manslaughter is a matter of negligeance and carelessness. Accident is no one’s fault. Football laws should similarly distinguish between tackles that set out to injure (eg Roy Keane on Alf Inge Haarland and Schumacher on Battiston), those which are illegal - studs up - but probably nonmalicious yet result in severe injury (eg Taylor on EDS9) and those which simply occur accidentally (eg Pires jumping over that Newcastle defender’s leg or an unfortunate clash of heads). The former should result in a life ban. The second should result in a ban for as long as the injured player is unfit to play. The latter should obviously escape sanction. Three card bans are a sick joke. The FA need to get real.

  6. The Saint Says:

If what Taylor has done is okay and excused then so should drink-driving. No one who drinks and drives intends to kill people and yet we put them in jail and rightfully so. If Taylor tackles so recklessly and then says “I didn’t mean it” and if we buy that then drunk drivers should be exonerated. They didn’t mean it too right? I’m disgusted with McLeish who is unable to empathise. I’m sure if it was one of his key players instead of Eduardo his reaction would be totally different that !@#$$ing hypocrite!

  7. ps7 Says:

I fully apreciate that Taylor did not intend to break Eduardo’s leg, but when a 14 stone guy launches himself with 1 fully extended leg , studs up at an angle of about 40 degrees making initial contact over 1 foot from the ground, on impact his foot will slide down the shin pad and with Eduardo’s foot planted on the ground WILL shatter his ankle.

So, when the ball is on the ground and the ball was passed along the gtound, how come it is perfectly within reason (according to most experts) for Taylor’s challenge to be so high! Why do people make excuses for him - his sole aim was to give him a hit, let him know he was there. It happens every week, be honest. It’s what Bolton’s principles are based on.

Quite a few journalists are failed or ex footballers and want to come across as real tough guys, hard men, so they back up this type of footballing behavoiur- oh how the love it when Bolton rough up one of the top teams.

This retarded mentallity follows on with the hero worship of thugs like Terry and Woodgate along with the glorification of footballers and their female conquests.

I believe our football journalists are generally a bunch of yobs living in the dark ages. They cannot cope with the human emotion (that’s soft) and the generally spohisticated behaviour of our players and club ( we don’t give them their fair share of sordid stories to fill the column inches).

I like the fact that the only info coming from our team is through the official site. Our players have not felt the need to earn a little more by selling tales of the horrors of what they have seen.

Come on Arsenal, let’s show this lot what we are made of. As fans we must be vocal in our support of Eduardo, the team and what this club is based on- desency

  8. El Tommo Says:

Football Credit Card - Think about the difference between murder and manslaughter … if I intend to kill someone then I commit murder and am punished harshly, but on the other hand if I accidentally, possibly through irresponsible actions, cause the death of another person it’s manslaughter, and I am still punished, but lightly compared to the murder scenario. This is legally and morally correct. Taylor is guilty of manslaughter and should indeed be punished for that but if we believe it was not his intention to destroy the career of Eduardo then we must accept it [and be as mature as Eduardo himself] as a very very bad and sad day for Eduardo and the club but we have to get over it and use the energy positively to go on and take the title.

Sure there could be a negative impact on the players - it might impact on the whole club negatively but we must collectively work against allowing that negative energy to undermine our purpose. I hope - and if this team *really* does embody the amazing togetherness and spirit so often cited by AW, Cesc and others - I then believe the long term effect will not be negative but positive. In adversity the players’ only choice is to pull together, close ranks, stiffen the sinews, and get out there with renewed purpose and go on to great things this season - it’s now that we need to show that spirit and I believe we will.

Nothing we can say or do will impact on the punishment meted out to Taylor so let’s stop calling for him to be hanged and focus on supporting our team with all the style and dignity we can muster.

  9. Arsenal _Gunner Says:

That SCUM useless PUNK taylor should go and hang himself…He is a bitch..why was he trying to kill Eduardo?

  10. Exiled Says:

I haven’t had a feeling like last Saturday since the 0-2 at Man U and the 2-2 at Bolton in 2003 when, in both cases, a football injustice was done by cheating, bullying, intimidation and woeful refereeing. It leaves you feeling sick in the stomach and hating football. I can relate to Gallas’ anger and Wenger’s disgust at the end of the game.

  11. Taylor can play if... Says:

Ok, let’s give Taylor the benefits of the doubt.

    He has 2 options:

    1)hang up his boot

2)play on with the condition that he must break either rooney or ronaldo legs with the exact innocent, unfortunate, accidental way

I prefer him to stay on break some legs in the smae manner. Since such event will be an accident, I would like to see the media reaction.

Whether there is condemnation of voice of smypathy for Taylor when the victim is English instead of a foreigner.

I guess deep down the heart of all the managers, players and journalists who support Taylor, they are joy inside them for this is the only way England can win over Croatia. A revenge with intent from the media!

  12. let's us all pray Says:

    lets all of us pray…

that on fine day, one big guy come along and break rooney or ronaldo legs…

it’s merely accidental and unfortunate, the exact same way Taylor did to Eduardo

and then we send some sympathies to the big guy… and we say rooney or ronaldo is unfortunate…

try tell this to the Sir liar… he will kill you for sure! he will react worst than Wenger… he will try to kill the big guy thre and there

  13. Omer Says:

I just read that Aliadiere had his 3 match ban extended to 4 matches - for a slap!!! Unbelievable! Yet, Taylor will only get 3 matches out???? How does this make any sense? And why is there no discussion in the media about whether the referee will review the incident or not? Is it a shut case i.e. he gets a 3 match ban and that is it?

  14. Exiled Says:

Aliadière fully deserved his 4 match ban. He nearly had Mascherano’s eye out on Saturday with that wild slap in the face. No way could you say he was going for the ball. And if the empty eye socket had got infected, Mascherano’s head could have had to be amputated. It’s time to stamp this sort of thing out of football. A two season ban, hard labour and hang-draw and quartering would be about right.

  15. Omer n Exiled Says:

    you both r funny guys!

i enjoy the joke by Exiled.

plz be reminded that if you are an ex-Arsenal player, you’re deservingly treated as an ex-convict if you play in England, the land of manure

if you r the Sir liar(as condone by the Queen) croonies, u escape unscathed

  16. vlcgooner Says:

I am not in England and don’t get to hear all of the lousy media pundits prattling on, but the general tone on Arsenal boards has been…very English! No, I don’t mean that as a compliment. Instead of “Why does the whole world hate us English?” it seems that many of you are indulging in the some thing similar “Why does the whole world hate the Arsenal?” Maybe it is time to turn off the TV or Radio and stop nursing this anger.

  17. Queen Latifah Says:

we dun hate English… we honestly and sincerely luv the Queen, her country and her citizens

but we can’t stand the double standard and abusive treatment by the pro Sir liar croonies

  18. ck Says:

eudardo ..all set to move out of the hospital!!

    get well soon dudu.

  19. Taron Says:

Question. Why everytime that you guys are bringing smth bad it is about Man Utd players or SAF and smth good or an accident yours?
What sickens me the most is that I am usually on redrants.com and we are not this hatefull and hypocritic. All of you are so pathetic that it really sickens me
