Toys exit prams as midfielder appears not to have arrived

The new Goodplaya site is here.

HOW very Arsenal to announce contract extensions for Mark Randall and Kieran Gibbs yesterday.

I’ve said previously how after losing Diarra, Flamini and Gilberto, we’ve left ourselves not just exposed to injuries, but short of midfielders in the first place.

It does frustrate me because I really don’t see why we couldn’t have held onto Gilberto and then only sold him yesterday if replacements were tied up.

But let’s not just throw our toys out of the pram on this. Buying a midfielder is not a case of opening an Argos catalogue, seeing which one you fancy, checking they have it at your local branch and picking it up.

It’s a damn site more complicated than that and I’ve no reason to think the boss didn’t try very hard to bring at least one in and possibly more.

But these things happen. And let’s be honest with ourselves here: what would our reaction be if he had signed someone but they had turned out to not be as good as Denilson or Diaby? Would we praise him for at least signing someone?

I think not. We’d slam him for bringing such rubbish into Arsenal football club.

Football success, ultimately, is not about who you sign. It is about what you do on the pitch.

And that is what I will judge Arsene on this season. I happen to think he has made things tougher than they need be, but if we are successful then when I look back it won’t bother me one bit that we didn’t sign any of those replacements.

Of course, if a terrible run in December coincides with Ramsey and Denilson in the team because Cesc and Diaby are injured, I won’t be hugely sympathetic.

But we kind of have a choice: either spend the next four months harping on endlessly about midfielders or we get behind what is ultimately a massively talented squad that looks light in one particular area (and perhaps in central defence but that’s for another day…)

It seems Man U have replaced their “youngster” F. Campbell with D. Berbatov, and who have they lost?

We finished behind both in the Champions League and in the Prem and we lost two starters.
The math does not add upp. Ramsey is nowhere near being ready for Prem action.

The Fulham game was a testament to our lack of depth, but yet we didn’t hit the transfer marked.

Sometimes it feels like Wenger wants to prove to everyone that he can beat the big teams without the money. But can he? I don’t think so, sorry to say!

    Good article and fair response

Wengers lost it. Hes well past it, time he was shown the door

  4. alan Says:

I think it is time for Wenger to go, we simply can’t compete with the squad that we have and are the laughing stock of the league.
I know people like Robinho are out of reach but there are others, has anyone seen Kompany at City linked with us for months but not even a sniff.
SWP would not have been bad either but no we still have bonzo the fucking clown in goal if Fabregas is out we have nothing in the middle of the park Ade and Van Persie are so hit and miss it’s un true……I won’t even start on Eboue.
I have been going to The Arsenal since 1979 and have had a season ticket for over 10 untill this morning when i have sold it.
Sorry i have lost the faith and am fed up with all these Johnny Foreigners coming to our club who really could not give a shit about it.
Fourth if we are lucky really is not good enough.
Fuck off Wenger and all your lies “we play good football”
Thats all we heard from West Ham and the Scum and look where that got them!!!!

  5. Rocky Says:

Stop being such a bunch of cocks ….

Time for Wenger to go ???????? Fancy fighting with Spurs for mid table mediocrity every season ?

  6. Gavstar Says:

Paul and Alan - We lose one game so far this season (admitidly we were shite) and you demand Le Boss goes? You’re an absolute disagrace and are stereoptypical wanker fans who are happy to support the team when everythings going well (Paul I couldn’t care less if you’ve had a season ticket for 10 years, you’re prob one of the executive brigade who can be found at the Club Level bar 10 mins into the second half). Judge Wenger on the end of the season and not after three league games or go follow lawn bowling and keep your stupid comments to yourself

  7. Kulagooner Says:

I just cannot believe what I am hearing….. Those asking for Wenger to go are obviously not proper football fans and are just glory hunters! You give MY club a bad name. Not only do we have to put up with these comments but some of these idiots seem to getting tickets to games…. please help us!

  8. Rocky Says:

if you want bought “success” then you too can buy your own “success”.

Just visit the Man U or Chelsea website and purchase a shirt.

If you demand mega transfers as you think that = success then pop off and buy a Liverpool or Sp*rs shirt !

Me, I’ll stick with the same old Arsenal shirt I have always worn and put up with the minor inconvenience of being light in midfield.

Look on the bright side, you aren’t getting married on the 8th Nov and have to

    a) miss the manure match at home
    b) have the prospect of a loss to the mancs on my wedding day

  9. Rocky Says:

Even worse, these idiots are getting quoted in the press.

  10. Rocky Says:

I just read the Alan comment .. classic ….

“I’ve been going for 29 years and I sold my ticket this morning because we didn’t buy anyone”

Its like saying “I’ve been married to my wife for 30 years and every morning she brought me breakfast in bed but I divorced her this morning as she didn’t put jam on the toast”

  11. Cuntex Says:

Yeah Wenger is crap. He gets Arenal into the top 4 every year and makes a profit on transfers. How rubbish can you be. I’d much rather we bought spoiled brat for £35m and finished 10th.

  12. Rocky Says:

i think we should sack wenger and get benitez or ramos in. We could spend millions on false hope every transfer window.

  13. Clockendgooner Says:

Alan, If you have held your season ticket for 29 years you will remember the dark days of the early 80’s when a regular feature was a 0-0 draw with barely a shot on goal and getting peed on in an uncovered clockend. If the most you have to moan about is not buying a player then perhaps it is time you do go.

    Ta ta.

Oh and how did you manage to sell your ticket at 8 in the morning? I do hope you have sold it back to the club. No, more likely, once you have had time to reflect you will be back. So we’ll have to suffer more of your childish nonsense.

  14. Rocky Says:

    Well said ClockEndGooner

A lot of these people don’t remember the reason behind the “one-nil to the Arsenal” chant :)

alan, fuck off and die, and leave me your imaginary season ticket in the mail you tottenham loving tool.

  17. KiwiGooner Says:

Nice Blog and finally a rational one. All I’ve done today is read Wenger hate mail and although I’m not overly optimistic about winning anything this season. I will not condem Wenger and say screw you and your 11 years of good service simply because we didn’t buy a defensive midfielder.

  18. mgslalala Says:

i would rather Wenger hadn’t said ‘we’re prepared to stay up all night’. I took that to mean something might actually happen and stayed up with him for moral support. somewhat regretting the decision this morning

  19. Mongoose Pepper Says:

    EASY PEOPLE….

I reckon, AW’s going to bring in a reserve to do the job…..The reserve i’m thinking is a young French boy called COQUELIN……Wenger was at the game last night looking at the RESERVES in action….This boy stands out even more than Jackie boy….He’s still a bit naive in the odd tackle but he’s no pussy thats for sure………..

Well worth a try, Promote WengER Promote!

  20. MikeTangoAlpha Says:

I love Wenger. He has done so much for the club. But if we go trophyless again this season then he MUST GO. Replace him with a YOUNGER manager. He gets rid of players after 30 when they’re “past their prime,” so he should take a dose of his own medicine when the time comes end of season.

  21. Pete Says:

Couldn’t agree more - the real world isn’t one big game of Football Manager, and signing the right player is an art form in itself.

One other thing to consider is that had Wenger bought a player just to make up the numbers, then the money he would have spent would be missing from the transfer kitty when the right player really does come along.

I think the problem here is that it scares people when other clubs flash the cash around like the two Manchester clubs did yesterday. But we’re not them, and for that I’ll always be glad.

  22. Norway Gooner Says:

Arsene gambled over pocket money and lost. It is so depressing :(

I dont understand how this is fair for a player like Cesc. He stays with no questions asked and Wenger lets him down by offering him players like Diaby, Denilson and Eboue next to him?

We really needed that flagship next to Cesc :(

    What if Cesc gets injured?

  23. Anonymous Says:

if cesc gets injured we wont even finish fourth im sorry but diaby ,denilson, song, bendter, just aint good enough why cant wenger see this is he going blind we need to sell these players and spend on quality as he himself keeps talking about, because none of them are quality, oh well anither tropyless season because of wengers stubborn youth experiment.

  24. Frichie Says:

I dont understand how this is fair for a player like Cesc. He stays with no questions asked and Wenger lets him down by offering him players like Diaby, Denilson and Eboue next to him?

    YOU’VE TOTALLY MISSED THE POINT!!!

Where would Cesc be now, If Wenger said you a good playa at 16, but you not ready so I am going to spend 30 million on XXX (not Vin Diesel) because you will only be ready at 22!!

  25. Frichie Says:

Coquelin did look very good last night, and was the reason we dominated for the first 25 minutes of the game, but i dunno what happened cos he stopped running/sat too deep…I think that Nob Randall thought he was david beckham or something and kept running around like a headless chicken

  26. White Ox Says:

Let’s forget about Arsenal at the moment, I just reckon this is another nail in the coffin for football. I mean Robinho to City because they’ve been bought by Abu Dhabi group who supposedly make Abramovich look like a beggar from the ghetto.

    Think about that.

Arsene decided nigh on a decade ago Arsenal couldn’t compete financially with the best in Europe because Highbury was holding our earning power back at the gate and he was right.

But since then the world has gone insane. Not even our genius manager could have anticipated the absolute insanity that was going to occur with foreign investors into the EPL. And sadly, I think he knows he is more than caught between a rock and a hard place, he’s completely done the right thing by securing our future whilst at the same time he now knows he cannot realistically compete without our club selling its soul.

A week ago I too was sharpening the knives for his failue to meaningfully improve us. Now I view the fact that we came so close last year despite all the BS associated with the Abramovich’s and the Glazers as a massive testament to the man as a manager.

Football might be on life support after today guys, and in my view it is not the fault of the board or Arsene Wenger.

And one more thing to chew on, to those upset that Xabi Alonso didn’t come our way, did you really think Liverpool would sell him to us? Not even Rafa, the man of 19 million quid for Robbie Keane, would be so silly. Not four weeks ago, not today.

  27. Sue Says:

What a miserable bunch of twats you are - calling for Arsene’s head - as for you Alan #4 you’re a disgrace to decent supporters out there.

We went trophyless for years….Arsene has brought stability to the club. If you wanna be foreign owed then sod off to Chelsea and support them. I support my local club through thick and thin.

  28. Anonymous Says:

Its not about wanting wengers head i think every arsenal fan appreciates what he has done but its hes inhability to admit when he is wrong and get rid of dead wood and dont leave it so long, like he did with senderos, i mean come on can any arsenal fan say bendter is good enough for arsenal, denilson, diaby, song, come on seriously,,,,

  29. Frichie Says:

can any arsenal fan say bendter is good enough for arsenal, denilson, diaby, song, come on seriously

Yeah, I can!!! *Holds hand up*

Merely because its not the player that is important in a football match, but the TEAM!! And while I was hoping for one extra player at least, I am not convinced that one player no matter how good they are can make a team!!!.
Man City will certainly discover that in the first half of the season.

  30. Erichero Says:

Wenger rightly points out that he spends more time on the training grounds than we do. He sees a lot more of Eboue than we do, and his transfer record is the envy of most supporters, suggesting that he knows how to identify a player’s strengths and weaknesses.

Flamini was a classic example of that - in one season he turned his career around, and we were saying the kind of things about him before then that we are now saying about Eboue and Denilson now.

What Wenger is trying to achieve with youth is unique. Rather than kill him off before he even starts, I’d rather give him the chance to pull it off. This season will be a fascinating one, because if we can achieve it, the whole footballing world will stand and stare.

ps. After one massive loss we’re already back at 4th on the table and only a point behind the leaders.

  31. gazzap Says:

if a terrible run in December coincides with Ramsey and Denilson in the team because Cesc and Diaby are injured, I won’t be hugely sympathetic.”
    spot on.

  32. Erichero Says:

Yeah, that would be terrible. The last time that happened was a complete disaster. Vieira got injured and they had to draft in one of the kids.

I’m trying to remember his name…

  33. Lettraggad Says:

Ok everyone is kinda pissed we didnt bring anyone in bcaus in fairness we need at least on more body in midfield. But remember the transferwindow is NOT closed for players on free transfer and ther is on particular player Id love for us to get free transfer or Not ,Stephen Appiah is on of the best midfielders out there and if arsene doesnt fancy him , he may have something else up his sleave or else Song whill have to step up he is our best option right now as Diaby is Mr glass. But remember it aint over til the fat lady sings.

  34. Anonymous Says:

I suppose wenger saw something in senderos that none of us did aswell i would like to know what because i never all i saw was a catastrophe at the back, and if you can say that bendter is any good well i dont know what you have been watching, look sometimes he gets it wrong but needs to correct it quick instead of being stubborn and the fans have to suffer watching average players struggle to play with the top players we do have.

  35. Anonymous Says:

How long must we wait for this youth experiment to work wenger has been saying for years now that this team is ready blah blah blah, should we wait ten years without winning nothing while the professor plays with his little experiment, sorry but im a little bored of it now, time to buy some players quality players, and the thing is he bulit a team and then let key players leave so we are back at square one,

  36. Frichie Says:

You obviously missed the successive clean sheets in the CL run to the final, Senderos played all of those games!.

And I dont understand why from whinging about midfielders you now blaming Bendtner for not being good enough!!! He isnt even first choice although I can see him getting there in the next 2 seasons

  37. Erichero Says:

I’m terribly sorry that you have to “suffer” watching the Arsenal. It must be traumatic.

Your attitude reminds me of Real Madrid fans - spend the whole lives trying to sign Galacticos and then wonder why they couldn’t win the league. When they finally started building a team again, promoting youth and developing team spirit (Wenger’s favourite word), they started to win something.

  38. Anonymous Says:

Just pointing out that sometimes wenger gets it wrong sometimes, so you think senderos is a quality centre half? and bendter well just pointing out hes useless wenger dont always get it right whats the problem with pointing that out, does jeffers ring a bell..

  39. Erichero Says:

I do think Senderos is a quality centre half. Don’t think of players as either being brilliant or useless. Put them on a scale of 1 to 10. Senderos might be an 8, but that’s not good enough for Arsenal, which is why we shipped him out. When he was a kid he looked like he might be a 10, which is why Real Madrid also wanted him. But an 8-rated centre half would be welcomed at most Premiership clubs, which is why AC Milan snapped him up (and they do know something about defenders).

As for Bendtner, would you rather have him in your team now while he is learning the trade, or would you rather pay 30 million for him in 4 years time? And while you’re on about him, you should remember that many Arsenal supporters think he’s the best striker at the club. (I personally think Vela is the real deal, but let’s see)

  40. Cry Of Honour Says:

The thing is we need a pot this year…one more year without a trophy would be too much…we keep on losing our best player because of it.

  41. Anonymous Says:

Yeah we shipped senderos out but 2 years to late just like cygan and igor steph remember them liabiltys kept far too long, and i know wenger can see that they aint gonna make the grade but his stubborness to try and prove people wrong costs us, when you make a mistake correct it and quick because in the prem if you dont you will pay, and bendter aint never gonna be worth 30m come on surley you dont really believe that (do you) well those supporters who think hes great may have changed there mind if they watched the game against twente the other night the guy was awful hes so clumsy he has no control of the ball even for walcotts goal it bobbled of both his legs, van p is always injured eduardo is injured and wenger seems to like bendter,so looks like he will get quite a few starts this season and he is no way good enough, yeah i agree vela looks very impressive thats my point ive only seen vela a couple of times and hes impressed me a lot, were as ive seen bendter loads of times and hes never looked any good, but stubborn wenger will keep playing him,and i feel sorry for the boy hes out of his league and will struggle, remember last season when ade and bendter had a bust up not that i like players arguing with each other on the pitch and i think ade was out of order, but when you have one player calling another shit i think it says a lot,

  42. wishihadaticket Says:

For every bell end like alan who sells his ticket today they’ll be one more fan making cheers not groans at the games. thank fuck for that

  43. Jiklebean Says:

Nik had a bad game v Twente, but is clearly quality, has scored a number of important goals for the team, has a remarkable international record already, and WILL be better than Ade in the not-too-distant-future.

Why do you think Chelsea, top Serie A clubs, plus a whole host of smaller Premiership clubs are constantly sniffing around him?

I trust Wenger, and if we achieve success this year it really will taste all the more sweet for achieving it in the fashion we’re operating.
It makes me sick to think all you tossers calling for his head will be revelling in that success as well, pretending you had faith all along.

  44. Frichie Says:

Bendtner is better finisher than Ade..FACT!!

You say he had a bad game, but you ignore the fact that he got an assist and goal. Football isnt an exact science! For everything that didnt come off he made up for with effort and didnt stop the whole night. He could be blamed for drifting out of games near the end but he never gave up. I will continue to support him everytime he pulls on the the Red and White (and that goes for everyone…yip even Eboue)

  45. White Ox Says:

I’m amazed a debate about a lack of midfielders turned into a debate about whether or not a young Danish centre forward is a quality player.

Let’s get one thing straight, in a season largely played off the bench he scored more goals than Baptista and Aliadiere did combined when given their (very) extended chance.

And as for Phil Senderos being sold two years too late you would have sold him at 21? Astute manager you’d be Mr Anonymous (gotta love people without the guts to give a name). Make sure you throw your ring in the hat in 2020 when Arsene calls it a day.

  46. Anonymous Says:

Whats giving a name got to do with it i suppose white ox is your name is it,, behave ,,just pointing out that sometimes wenger gets obsessed with something and doesnt let it go even if he can see it going badly just for some kind of personal goal which is not a good work ethic, sorry but if you ever thought senderos was gonna make it at arsenal you must be deluded anyone could see he was not godd enough just like cygan and igor but wenger will persist at the clubs cost, and i fear the with bendter, and harping on about other clubs want him proves nothing chelsea bought shevchenko oh great signing that was, bendter will eventually leave along with song, and saying he scored more than aliadiere and baptista well that wasnt hard was it they are hardly great players, and you have just put another name out there aliadiere who wenger persisted with who you could also see was never good enough, why wait get rid now and improve the squad, because yeah our first eleven are fantastic but a couple of injuries and were screwed,

  47. Goodplaya Says:

I have to say, I just can’t fathom the criticism of Bendtner.

  48. CHAS Says:

I think people are just worried about the lack of depth we have and signing Alonso would not be a guarantee to win but would have been a great addition.
Ok players get injured but that is part of the game the idea of a good squad is to cover that.
Not to be too negative though but a couple or three additions to our “good” squad would have turned us into real contenders.
Lets hope i get proved wrong!!!!

  49. chakravo Says:

I am very curious about a certain statistic. Now, I am young, and I grew up without cable TV, so I don’t really remember a pre-Arsene Arsenal. But, if I look at the history of the club it seems that we are now in the glory days. Only between 1929 and 1943 did we win a greater number of trophies than Wenger has brought us. So to all you people saying Wenger has destroyed the standard of Arsenal FC, I guess you are talking about the standard he created?
Last season, no one expected Flamini to play the way he did; Denilson is only 20, give hime a little time. Clichy was completely injured for two seasons a few years ago - have some faith in RvP, Diaby and Eduardo. Rosicky had CORRECTIVE SURGERY - it could have fixed his injury-prone muscle-imbalanced tendencies. I rate Djourou more than Senderos, Gibbs/Silvestre more than Traore (defensively), and Nasri more than Hleb.
I fully expect to laugh at all the moaners come December, but if, instead, I find them laughing at me, I will laugh to. Because I can do nothing else but support Arsenal, come what may.

  50. Spike Says:

I think the fact the squad looks thin in midfield is the reason for a lot of concern, although reading a few posts, i think their issues go way beyond simple football!

As for slating Senderos; TWICE in his stop start Arsenal career he has been opart of a defence that went TEN games without conceeding a goal and he’s gone to that backwater called AC Milan, thats how shite he is!

As for bentner, yeah, sure, lets rip another kid to pieces before he’s matured, very clever.

Fucking glory hunting media fed sheep half wits!

I also think Coquelin looks a quality player and him along with Diaby and Song can come in and do the DM role.

  51. Frichie Says:

I also think Coquelin looks a quality player and him along with Diaby and Song can come in and do the DM role.

AGREED, maybe the not ready for week in week out, but they all can do a job and Wenger should be able to rotate them

  52. Sniff Says:

So who would people like to see start alongside Cesc on a regular basis?

My vote is for Alex Song.

  53. Spike Says:

Never thought I’d say it, but I really think Song is the fella for the job. His energy and enthusiasm, not to mention lovely smile will save the day!

  54. Sniff Says:

Agreed Spike. I actually think he could be quite a good player in the DM position.

Though he doesn’t look like his all there sometimes. He could give away some reckless fouls. Then again that was part of Vieira’s appeal…

  55. Gogsy Says:

Alan: “Sorry i have lost the faith and am fed up with all these Johnny Foreigners coming to our club who really could not give a shit about it.”

I can only imagine how much Robinho cares about Man City…

  56. Strip Tees Says:

With equal resources AW is easily the best manager in the premiership. But we are so far behind now in spending proper money on nurtured talent that it has become sadly inevitable that we will not now challenge for silverware this season. If Cesc gets injured for 5-10 games or more we will not even finish in the top 4. Even with the best manager in the league you have, to a cetain extent, fight fire with fire.

    Excellent post mate!!

    found this funny

“Roman put in about £600 million over 5 years,” said one former fan. “That’s £120 million a year. These new guys have spent over £30 million in one day, just on players, so if you extrapolate… I expect them to catch up in about a month or so. They have my support.”

It seems many other fans have been drawn, moth-like, to the City of Manchester Stadium. Supporters have been noticed outside wearing blue Wright-Phillips shirts which look suspiciously like Chelsea kits with a new badge drawn over the top.

Scarves and hats have had “Chelsea” crossed out and “City” written on instead, while groups of ‘City’ fans have been seen huddling together swearing never to mention their May trip to Moscow again.

Fans who had just bought Chelsea shirts with “Robinho” on the back under the impression he would be arriving at Stamford Bridge were looking very smug and telling people they had bought them “for a joke” and that they had really supported City for years.

  58. Fabregas' Dad Says:

I can’t believe Paul. There are millions of people out there who would kill for a season ticket to watch the Arsenal live.

What’s worse is that the idiot sold his ticket after the Newcastle game as if it was some sort of disgraceful performance that we didn’t win by at least seven goals.

  59. Fabregas' Dad Says:

The biggest problem I have with Wenger’s youth policy is that over half of them leave, which is to be expected because you can’t have 5 players coming up every year at a top club, it’s just not gonna happen. But the very good players that do come up (such as Fran Merida) have world class players in front of them (Cesc) so it’s gonna be difficult to make space for both of them, and often this leads to Wenger selling the established player (in this case Cesc, probably to Barca for £50m) to give the younger player a chance to make the spot his own and the cycle repeats. This case is not like the case of Cesc and Vieira, ‘cos Vieira was aging as Cesc came up but Merida and Cesc are both still young.

As for Bendtner, I personally don’t think that he’s gonna make it at Arsenal in the long term (there are better prospects inside and outside of the club) but he’d probably fetch a healthy fee after a couple of seasons. His problem is that his physical build is suited to that of a target man but he cannot play as one and so he has to rely on his control which isn’t great because he’s so tall.

  60. Spike Says:

I wouldn’t put too much stock in bendy’s performances to date. he seems to take a while to get going!

  61. Bill Says:

The thing that bothers me about this situation is how poorly Arsene has managed fans’ expectations. If he had tamped down our frustrations, either by signing someone or saying definitively we won’t be signing someone, then I think things would be okay. But he has raised expectations and then not delivered. Even that would be fine, if he had come and said, you know, I changed my mind, we have cover, or even that we tried and failed to get someone. The silence (and it is early days, obviously) makes me wonder whether exactly what problems Arsene is having. All of these fans are complaining about him being stubborn, as if that’s the worst case scenario. The fact that he’s not out front defending the company line today (in the face of huge, palpable fan frustration) has got me worried there are bigger problems.

  62. ScotGoon Says:

Maybe AW should have left Nasri signing to the last minute - that way, fans would be celebrating, rather than moaning….

  63. fatgunner Says:

The new book on Wenger serialised in the Observer this weekend suggests that Arsenal are meaner than Fiszman suggests. Is Arsene being the gentleman covering up for the board’s unwillingness or inability to come up with the cash? Or did we fluff the negotiations as usual even though Alonso was desperate to come?
The best way to get Alonso in would have been to have made a proper offer several weeks before the deadline then leak it the press, and watch the tension between Alonso and Benitez build. We need to be meaner off the pitch as well as on it to win anything.

By the way, Bendtner’s not bad but Adebayor is a force of nature - he’ll be top Premier League goalscorer this season if he’s not bought by Citeh in January.

  64. Orez Says:

Gunners discussing how good Bendtner is? How must be kidding me…someone even claimed that he can cost 30 mil in 4 years. LOL. What a deluded bunch. Man Utd supporter point of view.
I believe that your board doesn’t have the money to spend, cause you need to pay for the Emirates, but they can’t tell you that, so they ask Wenger to take the blaim, by claiming that the funds were there. Wenger understands that and feeds you all the BS. IMO Wenger is a good manager and you will not find better than him, but until the debts are paid of you can forget about sucess, considering that now we have “Rentboyz Mark II” in the town.

What if Cesc Fabregas went to Manchester City next season of this coming January? Now ManCity got Roman-like oil money, in the form of Arabian. They are targeting Torres, Ronaldo and Fabregas.

Are we going to collapse without Fabregas? Just look at the Fulham performance and you could get the answer.

But with the greedy Adebayor in our squad, he would be the 1st to run off naked to ManCity if he got much better offer.

The only Big 4 that not signing a big name is Arsenal. And I really not sure how to react, just hope everything is going the rught way. Yes, just hoping.

With ManCity coming into the scene in big way, promising Champions League action next season, I am not sure if Liverpool or Arsenal finishing at fifth position. But I hope Manure is the team saying bye2 to Champions League. It’s only right ManCity replacing their neighbour.

  66. Tommy Knockers Says:

Not as easy as all that to buy a midfielder?? Really? He’s had all summer, he found enough time to get rid of 3. The rest of the time must of been doing tv for france and plannin for the under 15s. I’m not saying its time for him to go but if anyone seriously thinks we’re gonna get top 4 with this squad is talking out their Arse’s………..

  67. Luke Says:

    Football has gone insane. Period.

  68. perhaps Says:

With the mega spending of the arabs, man city would naturally be in the top 4. It’s only a matter of time.

So who is going to pay or lose big time? Is it Liverpool or will it be Arsenal?

For those who want Arsene out, I don’t mind. I am sure the arabs will grab him. It would be interesting to see the players Arsene will buy with the arabs monies.

I love Arsene brand of football but to win trophy, i think he got better chances by being a man city manager.

  69. White Ox Says:

    To perhaps,

Wenger would never go to a club controlled by Arab or Russian money, team building and club stability is his passion, not fantasy football that could end at the pull of a plug.

But you are Luke are both correct, what’s happaned at City is both insane and horrible news for Arsenal. These events have ameliorated any angst I had toward Arsenal not buying on deadline day, why would you bother if that’s what it costs and could sacrifice this club’s future?

Arseblogger’s done well to point out we’re bickering with each other far too much over something we tend to agree about. It’s good to see that since I posted last night some very positive things have been posted about out club and manager. It’s not unwarranted.

  70. Sniff Says:

Fabregas 4 and Song 17 will be the new Vieira and Petit! They will crush all challengers. Fergie will be haunted, the Abramovich era will pass into history and Man City will offer Arsenal 300 million for the pair!

  71. McGooner Says:

I have to say I am ok with Arsene not buying players - the thing that annoys me though is we pay so much for our season tickets. If we are not spending money and have millions in an unused kitty - reduce the bl00dy season ticket prices.

  72. gooner 4 life Says:

wenger cant go the man is almost god… we need a central mid fielder, defence is not the problem, maybe lose bendy up front, this man is very intelligent he studies the stats of each game, i thought myself last summer that the youth of song deserved a chance after an impressive loan spell.. diaby too the guy has better ability than viera his control is better. just lacking in hunger to make things happen.it has not worked, we will have cesc(no doubt) nasri, arshavin, theo, rosicky maybe, eduardo, vanP,vela, ramsey, wilshere, simpson ,a cdm.Arsene is stubborn but not a fool. gunner 4 life.im realistic, we are better than liverpool, better than chelsea.IM sick of saying next year too,but its time we got behind the gunners again.
